Monica Bonvicini’s exhibition I do You portrays modernist and radial architecture. Playing with sculptural and multi-layered works, Bonvicini’s creations strive to challenge viewers to question outdated structures. Altering Mies van Der Rohe’s modernist architecture, Bonvicini deals with the questions of space, power relations, walls, and transparency. The exhibition also explores Western modernity specifically, investigating the way that gender relations and social orders are inscribed into architectural designs in different ways. Her work offers a new perspective on space and can make you question some of the most basic architectural structures we are most used to.
