Emma Watson Directs and Fronts Prada's New Fragrance Campaign
Actress, activist, and now, director for Prada's latest fragrance campaign. Emma Watson proves she can do just about anything.
Meet Prada's new and deserving muse, Emma Watson. According to the house in an official statement, the English actress and activist is the embodiment of the Prada woman: The "epitome of female modernity" and a "celebration of female multi-dimensionality across the world." And with Watson's repertoire of activism in women's rights, environmental justice, and climate change mitigation, earning her rightful status as UN Women Goodwill ambassador, we can't think of anyone better to fit those accolades.
For her partnership with Prada, Watson is not only fronting the upcoming campaign but going behind the camera to direct it as well.
"When Prada asked me to be the face of their new fragrance campaign, I asked if I could direct it," Watson shares in her latest Instagram post. "Months later, I'm able to share the results of the faith they shared in me, with all of you."
She continues: "I can't wait to share this piece of my art, and hope that you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it. I could never have done this without my unbelievable team of collaborators. Thank you for your time, commitment, talent and passion."
Following the announcement by both parties last night, Prada Beauty has taken to Instagram to share short teasers of Watson's directorial debut – captioning the posts with "She is Prada Beauty".
It is clear the house views Watson in a good light, describing the talented multihyphenate as a "sophisticated, fiercely feminine, intensely intellectual" woman. "She’s everything and its opposite," Prada says. "Always running towards the next version of herself." Accurate labels for the actress if you're familiar with Watson's work and advocacy.
