Beatles Movie Cast Confirmed: Four Films, One Story
At CinemaCon in Las Vegas, the cast of Sam Mendes' four Beatles films, one for each member of the band, were announced, due out in April 2028.
It's official: Harris Dickinson will star as John Lennon , Paul Mescal will play Paul McCartney , Barry Keoghan will play Ringo Starr , and Joseph Quinn will play George Harrison in the highly anticipated new Beatles biopics . The announcement came on stage at CinemaCon , where the four leads revealed that the films—each focusing on a different member of the band— will be released simultaneously in theaters worldwide in April 2028 , ushering in a cinematic experience unlike any other.
Formed in Liverpool in the early 1960s, the Beatles were not simply a musical group: they were, rather, the soundtrack to a global cultural revolution .
Composed of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr , the British quartet rewrote the rules of pop and rock music, establishing themselves as an unprecedented artistic and generational phenomenon. Their creative arc – extraordinarily concentrated in just a decade of activity – spanned and defined an era, ranging from the adolescent beat of their early days to psychedelic lyricism, from sound experimentation to social commentary, until reaching peaks of compositional refinement and stylistic avant-garde . Albums such as Revolver , Sgt. Pepper’s , The White Album and Abbey Road are milestones in the world of discography. With over 600 million records sold , the Beatles imposed a new model of global artist, capable of combining global popularity and musical research , visual language and political content. Their influence, sixty years later, remains alive, multifaceted, transversal: from fashion to communication, from cinema to writing. At the 2025 Grammy Awards they won the award for Best Rock Performance for the single Now and Then, a song completed by extracting John Lennon's vocal track from a demo, more than 50 years after the band broke up.
For the first time, Paul McCartney , Ringo Starr and the families of John Lennon and George Harrison have granted full rights to their lives and music for a narrative production.
The idea, conceived and directed by Mendes - who explained how "it is an honor to tell the story of the greatest rock band of all time and challenge the conventions of traditional cinema" - foresees that the four films intertwine, composing a choral tale of the most famous band in the history of music. Sony Pictures will finance and distribute the project globally. Mendes will direct all four films and produce them alongside Pippa Harris and Julie Pastor . Jeff Jones , for Apple Corps Ltd. , will serve as executive producer, who said: "We are delighted to collaborate with Sam, Pippa and Julie to explore the unique stories of each Beatle, brought together in an innovative and engaging way".
