7 Celebrity Kids Headed to College This Year
Stranger Things stars Millie Bobby Brown and Noah Schnapp are just two of many famous celebs going off to college this year.
First comes fame, then comes college..? That's exactly the case for certain names in Hollywood. When the hit Netflix sci-fi show Stranger Things first aired in 2016, actress Millie Bobby Brown was only 12 years old. Her co-star Noah Schnapp was only 11 when filming began. Fast forward six years (and a lot of fame) later, and they're both starting college. Despite their time in the spotlight, these two are ready to experience a fairly normal part of young adulthood—while also getting their degree in the process.
But these two aren't the only well-known names headed off to their next four-year adventure. Some of these soon-to-be college attendees also have famous parents. Here's all the big names starting college this year.
Three-time Grammy Award winner Olivia Rodrigo was spotted taking a music production course at the University of Southern California's Thorton School of Music in fall 2022. Another image shows her in-school contact having her listed as an "Undergraduate Visitor" which would allow her to take classes without enrolling in a full degree program.
Millie Bobby Brown's Indiana ties are strong. While the show that made her famous, aka Stranger Things, takes place in Hawkins, Indiana, it looks like Brown will now be linked to West Lafayette, Indiana. In an interview with Allure, Brown revealed that she is taking college classes online at Purdue University. Her choice of studies? Human services.
Back in December 2021, the Stranger Things actor shared some exciting news with his fans: he got accepted into the University of Pennsylvania. In a TikTok, with OneRepublic’s song "I Lived" playing in the background, Schnapp and his family are seen jumping for joy after receiving word of his acceptance. While it appears Schnapp no longer has the video up, luckily, Netflix reposted it. The caption read, "This video of Noah Schnapp learning he got accepted to college is the purest thing in the world. Congrats Noah!!"
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's daughter Zahara is officially a Spelman College student. Jolie commemorated her daughter's newest adventure with an Instagram post. The actress wrote: "Zahara with her Spelman sisters! Congratulations to all new students starting this year. A very special place and an honor to have a family member as a new Spelman girl."
New York City, here comes Leni Klum. In September 2022, Heidi Klum revealed to Entertainment Tonight that her daughter Leni was making the move to attend college. But while the Big Apple might be a big change for some, Leni has already spent some time in the city of dreams. "I started in New York, so she knows New York inside and out because we shot Project Runway there for so many years,” said her mother. But even though she shared her daughter's big milestone, Heidi did not reveal which school her daughter will be attending.
Actress Kate Hudson's son is going off to college. In a recent Instagram post, Hudson shared a one-minute video of her two sons jamming out. Hudson's oldest, Ryder, played the guitar, while Bingham, her middle child, was having fun on the drums. She captioned the video, "My boys 🥰 What more could a mom ask for other than boys who play rock and are hilarious at the same time ✅ @mr.ryderrobinson what a good big brother. We’re gonna miss you big time 😢 #offtocollege #guessthesong."
While Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe's son recently made his acting debut in Never Have I Ever, and while he's been immersing himself in the music industry, he's also preparing to start college. The father of the teen recently gushed about his son to Entertainment Tonight. In the interview, he briefly mentioned Deacon's next steps. "I am so proud. He's about to go to college for music. That’s his primary focus. The acting thing he likes to do, and he will do according to what his appetite for it is, but his focus is primarily music."
While many people start college in the fall, Mark Wahlberg's oldest daughter Ella is doing things a little differently. In January 2023, the 19-year-old set off for Clemson University in South Carolina.
