Amazon is teaming up with Reese Witherspoon and her production company Hello Sunshine to develop a television series of the cult 2000s film Legally Blonde. Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, known for their hit series Gossip Girl and The OC, are the members responsible for writing the television series, the premises of which are still kept secret.

We do know, however, that Schwartz and Savage with their Fake Empire banner, Lauren Neustadter and Witherspoon with Hello Sunshine, Marc Platt and Amazon MGM Studios are all producers of this potential spinoff. It also appears that Amazon's streaming platform and Hello Sunshine are looking to turn the Legally Blonde films into a multi-series franchise, with a potential second series also in its early stages. Conversely, we don't yet know if Reese Witherspoon intends to reprise her iconic role as Elle Woods in the potential TV series.

The actress previously told The Hollywood Reporter that she was interested in taking on the role of Elle again in her 40s. “I want to find out what age means to this character,” she confessed in 2019. “Aging, contemporary ideas, how things have evolved — or not evolved.” We hope that the outcome of this work will be conclusive, and that Reese Witherspoon will reprise the colourful character of Elle Woods (and her Barbiecore wardrobe tinged with feminism) to the delight of her fans.
