The couple were invited by Colombia 's Vice President Francia Márquez, who explained in a press conference that she felt connected to Markle after hearing her story and her experience with the media following the wedding. "I first met them through the media, and in particular I followed the Netflix series about their life and their story, which moved me deeply. It motivated me to say, 'This is a woman who deserves to visit our country and share her story,' and without a doubt her visit will empower many women around the world."

While the trip is not an official tour, it is still a public visit with similar philanthropic and diplomatic intentions. Márquez explained further in this statement, saying, “This is their first visit to Latin America. The purpose of their visit is to build bridges and open doors that allow us to join forces to raise awareness and address a global issue that affects us all: cyberbullying in digital environments and discrimination, which pose a risk to the mental health of everyone in the world.”

On Thursday, August 15, the couple arrived in Bogota, where they met with the vice president and her husband. Later, they visited a school and met with young students before co-chairing a summit on behalf of the Archewell Foundation on the evolving digital landscape, where social media and its impact on society were the main topics of discussion. On August 16, they visited another school and attended an Invictus Games event in the afternoon. The itinerary for Saturday, August 17, included a visit to San Basilio de Palenque, and for their last day in Colombia, the couple visited a music festival in Cali.

In ultra-chic Chanel slingbacks, a camel double-breasted blazer, and slim black trousers, Markle looked the epitome of elegance, but it wasn't the dress itself that caught the eye. Instead of her usual minimalist hoops or gold drop earrings, Markle donned a pair of gold butterfly earrings that originally belonged to Princess Diana. Encrusted with diamonds and onyx, the Princess wore them in the '80s. Meghan Markle has brought them back in a whole new light. (Getty Images)

In typical Meghan Markle style, the former "Suits" actress arrived in Colombia in a series of ultra-chic looks. Since her marriage to Prince Harry , Meghan Markle has become synonymous with sleek, minimalist style, and these latest public appearances are no exception.
