Before Kim Kardashian or Blake Lively or even Scarlett Johanson, there was Pamela Anderson—modern Hollywood's first and ultimate bombshell.

The Canadian-born actress and model rose to fame after she appeared on the jumbotron at a football game in Vancouver. Quickly after, the attention she received and the opportunities which came her way snowballed until she appeared on the cover of a 1989 issue of Playboy. Soon after, Anderson landed a role on the iconic show Baywatch and eventually became one of the show’s longest-standing cast members. Through her various roles, modelling, as well her incredibly public and controversial relationship and marriage with Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee, Anderson quickly became one of the most-known names in Hollywood.

In case you missed it, Hulu’s series Pam & Tommy, starring Lily James and Sebastian Stan, told the story of Anderson and Lee’s infamous stolen sex tape. The series has given an intimate look into the world-famous couple’s life and relationship and focuses particularly on the leaking of their sex tape to the public.

However, with the help of her son Brandon Thomas Lee, Anderson is telling her own side of the story in her recently released Netflix documentary, Pamela, A Love Story. "I blocked that stolen tape out of my life in order to survive. Now that it’s all coming up again, I’m feeling sick. I want to take control of the narrative for the first time," Anderson states in the opening sequence of the trailer. The documentary follows Anderson's life throughout the years, as she sets the record straight on the series of events she has been subjected to, especially when it came to her incredibly publicized love life. Additionally, Anderson has also released her memoir, Love, Pamela. The former Playboy model isn't holding back in this tell-all book as she shares her experiences working in the infamous Playboy Mansion. After years of having others tell her story, Anderson is speaking out on her own terms.

To celebrate her birthday, L'OFFICIEL looks back on Anderson's early years in the spotlight.
