Paris Fashion Week 2024, Things to do in September
In addition to the shows, the agenda is filled with exhibitions, free events and shopping where fashion is always at the center.
While we wait to find out what Alessandro Michele 's debut as Valentino's creative director will be like on September 29th and understand how the Coperni duo, Arnauld Vaillant and Sébastien Meyer, will orchestrate their own show of princesses of the future on October 1st in Chessy, where Disneyland Paris is located, the City of Light is preparing for a fashion week packed with events, fashion shows and transversal projects. Paris Fashion Week 2024 sees the end of the legendary Fashion Month dedicated to the collections for next summer in September and October and therefore, in fact, extends the perception of the mental benefits of one of the most beautiful seasons of the year. To enrich the calendar of dates and events, there is also the counter-programming with activities, exhibitions and - why not - shopping not to be missed between September 23rd and October 1st. In the meantime, two flash reports:
Rabanne opens the doors of its golden universe with an immersive pop-up Million Gold, complete with the iconic Golden Catwalk to try Gigi Hadid's walk to the sound of "Pure/Honey" by Beyoncé. From September 27 to 29, upon registration on the dedicated platform.
We must reiterate that for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, Dior dressed great artists for the opening ceremony. Thus, at La Galerie Dior, you can still admire Maria Grazia Chiuri 's creations worn by Céline Dion , Lady Gaga -feather bodysuit, Aya Nakamura and Axelle Saint-Cirel . The exhibition highlights the fusion between artisanal excellence and innovation in fashion. At 11 Rue François 1er, every day except Tuesday.
In addition to having scheduled the Saint Laurent show on September 24 at 8 pm, Paris Fashion Week 2024 sees the Maison led by Anthony Vaccarello also active on other (magnificent) channels. The Yves Saint Laurent Museum is hosting an exhibition, starting September 20, dedicated to the designer's love for nature and flowers. The exhibition is entitled Les Fleurs d'Yves Saint Laurent and features around thirty silhouettes and numerous drawings, including emblematic pieces such as the summer bride interpreted by Laetitia Casta in 1999, the embroidered jackets of the spring-summer 1988 collection inspired by Van Gogh and the prints inspired by the works of Pierre Bonnard. ( 5 Av. Marceau ). But that's not all. At the Saint Laurent Babylone space, you can browse and purchase - until September 29 - the selection of books by the guest publisher, Librairie du Palais and curated by Vaccarello himself, as a celebration of the Rencontres d'Arles photography festival. At 9 rue de Grenelle.
The Louis Vuitton LV DREAM project continues, the immersive exhibition created by the Maison that pays homage to and brings together 160 years of artistic collaborations that have shaped its spirit of innovation. From the digital portrait of Louis Vuitton created by Cao Fei, to the iconic travel trunks, the exhibition explores the constant dialogue between tradition and modernity in nine interactive rooms . Set up in a historic building that housed the former La Belle Jardinière store, an essential shopping destination in the second half of the 19th century, it will be possible to discover original works that reflect LV's know-how and innovation. Inside, a café and a chocolate factory in collaboration with Maxime Frédéric , pastry chef at Cheval Blanc Paris. Open every day from 11:00 to 20:00 with mandatory reservation , at 26 quai de la Mégisserie.
Paris Fashion Week 2024, the exhibitions to see in September
Those who loved them in the 1990s cannot miss the exhibition of the duo Pierre et Gilles in Paris with the photography at the Galerie Templon until October 26. Here, the kings of kitsch-sublime explore the night from every angle in a new series of portraits entitled Nuit électrique where painting and photography mix and blend in a masterly way. The nocturnal theme sees locations such as clubs, amusement parks and cabarets as places to express one's soul and where the famous provocative characters, from tattooed sailors to fallen angels, are immortalized in an intense neon light that emphasizes their bittersweet emotional dualism. Among the shots are also two self-portraits of the magical duo. At the Galerie Templon headquarters at 28, rue Grenier Saint-Lazare.
In addition to the beauty of the building designed by Jean Nouvel, At the Institut du Monde Arabe , you can visit ARABOFUTURS, the exhibition that invites you to enter the dream worlds of science fiction of new Arab imaginaries. An opportunity to immerse yourself in a fantastic and dynamic laboratory of hypotheses that is currently developing in all creative domains. Videographers, visual artists, photographers and performers thus renew their perspectives, redefine identities and aim to offer emancipatory counter-narratives. Globalization, modernity, ecology, migration, gender and decolonization are among their key topics. Eighteen artists present new plural, committed and life-affirming possibilities, or dystopian visions that reveal the contradictions of our world. At the 1 Rue des Fossés Saint-Bernard until 27 October.
A step to the Galerie du 19M , at 2 place Skanderbeg , to enter the world of lace and embroidery of a great name, is almost a must. Lesage, 100 years of fashion and decoration, is the exhibition that celebrates its savoir-faire, a company that in 2024 celebrates its first 100 years of spectacular creations made for the most prestigious names in Haute Couture. Each Lesage piece that combines technical virtuosity and stylistic innovation, is an ode to the art of embroidery and Murmuration is among the various objects the monumental work not to be missed because it was conceived in collaboration with the artist Aristide Barré: a swarm of starlings in flight, a symbol of collective harmony through embroidery on several organza panels. Visiting the exhibition is also a double opportunity, because Galerie du 19M is the artistic space of the Manufacture de Mode Chanel where the artistic professions of fashion and decoration are promoted and which, in addition to the exhibition, presents a very rich calendar of free embroidery workshops under the expert eye of Lesage artisans.
Haute couture virtuoso Azzedine Alaïa has always been a big fan. Fascinated by the arts, that of Japanese designer Shiro Kuramata brought him to a true harmony through the link with sculpture. If Alaïa had already celebrated Kuramata in 2005 with an innovative exhibition, Alaïa/kuramata, Lightness in creation - until December 1 at the Fondation Azzedine Alaïa, the couturier's former private home in the heart of the Marais - represents the intense dialogue between two such intense creative forces. More than 20 exceptional furniture and objects by Shiro Kuramata (1934-1991) dialogue with 20 haute couture creations by Alaïa (1935-2017) in a commonality of vision: from the poetry of forms, to the radicality of a cut to the subtle choice of a color. Curated by Carla Sozzani and Olivier Saillard, open daily from 11am to 7pm at 18 Rue de la Verrerie.
