As seen from the dusty little road, the 18th-century, two-storey house owned by artists and collectors Claudina Damonte and Aldo Kodac is inconspicuous, its stark northern façade containing only a few small windows. This quietly unassuming exterior belies the home within – a vibrantly eclectic and richly layered curation of arts and décor that draws the eye at every turn. Walls painted in bright, contrasting tones offset a collection of artworks and panelled mirrors; filled bookcases display intriguing ornaments; and Murano or crystal chandeliers hang from every ceiling. The couple used to chase the summer across the hemispheres, owning a restaurant in Uruguay as well as their concept boutique and art gallery The Rose in Ibiza’s Santa Gertrudis. After 23 years of this busy lifestyle, in 2000 they sold the restaurant and decided to move here permanently. ‘Ibiza has everything we need,’ says Kodac. ‘Our community, our work, our inspiration, parties when we want them, blissful peace and quiet when we need it. Nature, art and creativity.’
