Ritz Paris tableware gets a second life
In an effort to enhance the value of its heritage resources, the hotel is launching its first collection of upcycled jewellery, designed from fragments of its legendary porcelain tableware.
Designed by César Ritz for the opening of his hotel in 1898 and still in use today, the Marthe tableware - named in honour of Saint Martha, patron saint of restaurateurs and hoteliers - is decorated with a delicate blue or red Louis XVI-style frieze. It can now be found on a capsule collection of 40 exclusive pieces of jewellery, thanks to La Fabrique Nomade, which carefully recycled the broken plates. Each piece - necklace, ring, bracelet and earring - also made of gold and vermeil, was handcrafted by one of the association's 6 artisans, which promotes the social and professional integration of migrant and refugee craftsmen in France. A supportive and sustainable partnership, which also preserves the history and heritage of the Ritz Paris. All profits from the sale of the jewelry will be donated to La Fabrique Nomade.
