Balmain's SS24 Showcase: A Parisian Elegance Extravaganza
Olivier Rousteing pressed forward despite the theft of nearly fifty pieces just days before his show. The collection exuded ultra-glamour with its super-shouldered double-breasted jackets, exquisitely embroidered mini dresses, and red carpet-worthy sheaths, setting a captivating tone.
It was at the Palais de Chailot, with a view of the Eiffel Tower, that the designer presented his new spring-summer 2024 collection, inspired by Pierre Balmain's archives from the 1930s/40s. Thus the silhouettes are adorned with polka dots, but above all with roses in different shapes and materials : printed on a cyclist, embroidered with pearls on a micro-suit, in 3D like a work of art and associated with a wise pleated skirt. It is also found in leather, latex, rubber, porcelain and even recycled plastic, on ever more retro dresses, silk blouses, or even bags, while its thorns subtly deploy elsewhere. The show was broadcast live on the Balmain TikTok accounts as well as @TikTok_France, a new way for Olivier Rousteing to allow more people to experience these special moments, while TikTokers posted live from backstage. Finally, the designer thanked his friends and colleagues for their support after the theft of part of his collection, but also the police for their investigative work, some boxes of looks having been found.
