A sense of nostalgia for the holidays over and the desire to daydream. The new Chanel spring summer 2024 collection designed by Creative Director Virginie Viard speaks precisely of carefreeness, colours, sounds of nature, a "joie de vivre" a contagious joy of living.

“This Ready-to-Wear Spring-Summer 2024 collection is a hymn to freedom and movement, and tells a story that has its origins in the gardens of Villa Noailles,” explains Virginie Viard. A short distance from the sea, on the hills of Hyères, the modernist villa of Charles and Marie-Laure de Noailles, designed by the architect Robert Mallet-Stevens in 1923, is always exposed to the sun and immersed in the most luxuriant nature. Facing south, the volumes and external spaces of the villa – from the cubist checkered garden to the sunken flowerbeds – illuminate the Ready-to-Wear Spring-Summer 2024 collection with shiny lurex dresses and a profusion of geometric motifs, the play of asymmetries contrasting, patchwork, stripes, checks and stripes give rhythm to a collection that is in perfect balance between sport, comfort and chic, helping to strengthen the allure that the brand has in the collective imagination.

There are multicoloured tweed dressing gowns, black or pink, and striped toweling jackets of every colour, lace dresses and trousers are adorned with floral motifs, and there are also some "underwater" themed outings with neoprene clothes. The jaunty spirit extends to short dresses and sun-pleated tops, striped Bermuda shorts and double-breasted jackets worn open with the hands in the pockets.
“Sophistication and informality, tweed throughout the collection, sportswear and lace: I tried to combine one thing and its opposite in the coolest way possible. And the gardens and swimming pool of Villa Noailles, that exceptional setting, lend themselves quite well to this." explains Viard.

Swimsuits, organza babydolls, sportswear and evening dresses all follow the same sun-kissed path, the waist is low, the heels are flat. The dresses are light and very elastic: strapless, without lining. Vests and cardigans are worn as dresses trousers with pockets, wide leg shorts and asymmetrical skirts, bows and pleats complete this look which is all about a life on the move. References to Marie-Laure de Noailles and Gabrielle Chanel, united by strength of character and friendship with the artistic avant-garde, come together in the black sunglasses adorned with the typical golden chains à la Chanel.
