Dr. Martens Jadon boot celebrates 10 years of originality
From subcultural statement to anti-mainstream cult icon, the boot supports rebellious and nonconformist people. For the occasion, a short film was created that celebrates its history
In April Dr. Martens celebrates the Jadon boot. On the occasion of the tenth year of life of the Jadons, the British brand has created a celebratory short film . The video features anecdotes from the brand's former creative director Damien Wilson and current Darren McKoy, photographer Tommy Ton, fashion blogger Bryanboy , and some of Dr. Martens collectors and collaborators.
When they created the Jadon boot, the Dr. Martens team's goal was to create a boot that stood out from the classic 1460 boot, but retained the brand's DNA. Featuring an imposing platform, 8 eyelets, yellow welt stitching and an unmistakable heel-loop with logo, the Jadon boot is a bold evolution of the most famous and iconic Docs.
Some shoes never go out of style. And certainly the Dr. Martens are the symbol of punk and irreverence. Over the years, in addition to the classic 1460s, the Jadons have established themselves as a new cult model, ending up at the feet of celebrities such as Lil Nas X, Bella Hadid and Miley Cyrus.
The Jadons, produced for the first time by Dr. Martens in 2013, were launched as a revised version of the brand's trademark: 8-eye silhouette, smooth leather upper and PVC sole complete with the brand's signature yellow stitching. “Even though the brief was to create something completely new, it was super important to keep key elements like our grooved sole, yellow welt stitch, eight eyelets and black heel loop,” says Global Creative Director of Dr. Martens, Darren McKoy, of the project. "Combined with a slimmer ankle silhouette and platform sole, we had a winner."
