Shoes to watch out for; Jacquemus' collaboration with Repetto
After teasing the partnership earlier in the month, Jacquemus has finally shared the first images of the shoes we will all want on our feet.
If you follow Jacquemus closely, you couldn't have missed this Story, revealing what appears to be a shoebox with the words " Jacquemus " and " Repetto ". In one photo, the rumour could be launched: Jacquemus will soon reveal a collaboration with the most talented French house in the making of dance slippers.
Today, it's official: Jacquemus and Repetto reveal their collaboration, which is part of the designer's next collection, Les Sculptures. This announcement delights us, it seems very natural to us - two French brands with human values, two international success stories, and the same love of beauty and craftsmanship.
Jacquemus had already given us a glimpse of his vision of the ballerina with his latest fashion show, Le Chouchou , and its hybrid version where the shoe sometimes turns into a mule, sometimes into a pump, swapping its traditional round toe for a square toe - an obsession with designate. For his collaboration with Repetto , it is not a question of ballerinas but of the reinterpretation of the timeless Zizi brogue - Serge Gainsbourg's favorite model whose comfort seduced him, to the point that he decided to make it an element inseparable from its allure, propelling it to the rank of legendary shoe across generations. The fashion twist signed by Jacquemus : a square toe and a circular heel, in a play on geometry that is unique to it and which evokes pointe shoes, the initiating movement of the House. Made using the sewn-and-turn method in the Repetto workshops in Dordogne, this new leather model, with androgynous lines, celebrates exceptional craftsmanship and the French visionary spirit.
