At the Met Gala with Lily Donaldson, in Burberry
L'OFFICIEL exclusively followed Lily Donaldson's preparation for the Met Gala. Dressed in an impressive Burberry dress designed especially for the occasion by Daniel Lee.
The dress code for this year's Met Gala - JG Ballard's short story, "The Garden of Time" - greatly inspired Burberry creative director Daniel Lee to dress the celebrities in attendance. Indeed, since his first collection, flowers - notably roses, daisies and daffodils - have been a central element of his creations and campaigns. The fabrics were then delicately shaped to reflect the floral patterns mentioned in this book, while the pastel and golden tones reflect the softness of the petals. With its fringes and long train, Lily Donaldson's dress pays particular homage to her. “ We were so happy to have Lily in the Winter 2024 show,” said Daniel Lee. “Here we dress her in a true goddess dress, where the sequins tangle with a texture close to that of a rotting plant. » The fringes were created by embroidering sequins onto thousands of threads, which were then applied by hand to the dress, a process that took many weeks. The dress is also inspired by the Winter 2024 collection, which has its roots in the outdoors and the changing times.
