A summer by the sea: inspired by the 60s, 70s and 80s
A journey through the 60s, 70s and 80s through the most popular season of the year: summer. From the look of Audrey Hepburn in Roman Holiday, passing through the hippie style of Jane Fonda. All the vintage trends that are always current. A summer by the sea: inspired by the 60s, 70s and 80s
As we all know, summer is one of the most worldly seasons, in which you can show off much more daring outfits with the most iconic distinctive features. Between aperitifs by the sea, trips out of town, walks with the flavor of cedar with ice, travels, a dance evening, or the busy event on duty. During the summer months, often unknowingly, we happen to wear clearly vintage-inspired looks. And in a moment the various locations chosen for our summer holidays are transformed into those (crossed by Vespa) of the splendid Princess Anna - masterfully interpreted by Audrey Hepburn - in Roman Holidays. In fact, our outfits seem to draw inspiration from the cinematic masterpieces of the 60s, 70s and 80s, and often associated with the icons of those decades. Vittorio Gassman 's films in the economic boom era, Anita Ekberg 's timeless sensuality, Jane Fonda 's 70s revolution, or Brooke Shields' ethereal beauty in The Blue Lagoon (1980). Clearly never look back, but not when it comes to trends. Crossing three of the most beloved decades of all time, let's find out which looks to re-propose from the past.
Scroll down to discover the 60s, 70s and 80s. All the trends still current and sought after.
THE 1960s
The 60s are the years of the economic boom, those in which fashion began its revolution. The decade of Pierre Cardin, Paco Rabanne, and Emilio Pucci. To these fabulous years we owe film successes such as Breakfast at Tiffany's, Fellini's La dolce vita. The 60s summer season: between jukeboxes, light dresses with optical patterns, and Jackie Kennedy -inspired fly glasses. Today on the beaches of Italy let's dance to a cocktail of reggaeton, rap and trap hits; yesterday, however, the body swayed to the sound of Sapore di sale by Gino Paoli.
THE 1970s
1970 was the decade of flared trousers, shocking colors, paisley patterns, Diane von Furstenberg, Missoni, and Studio 54 in New York City. The '70s are the years of student struggles, and at the same time the years of the unforgettable Abba. Timeless hits like I Will Survive by Gloria Gaynor, Stayin 'Alive by the Bee Gees, to Donna Summer's unforgettable Hot Stuff. The 70s were also the years of the first miniskirts, of leather boots even in summer, of shirts with maxi ruffles. We could still draw inspiration, during the summer season, from every single look of the celebrities of that decade. Among them: John Travolta, David Bowie, and the Italians Adriano Celentano, Patty Pravo, and Raffaella Carrà.
THE 1980s
1980 represents the era of the oxymoron. In fact, in these years a decidedly bon ton chic idea of fashion spread, alternating with a more daring, excessive and decidedly eccentric reality. In these years, starting precisely from the 70s, the Italian designer Giorgio Armani will change the world of fashion with his famous unstructured jacket. The 80s: the era of Take On Me, of punk rock fashion, of beauty queen Cyndi Lauper, of brightly colored shirts by Gianni Versace. In these years the fashion world will begin to approach a more contemporary style, and to dare. In the summer, Tropicana, Vamos a la playa di Righeira and A summer at the sea by the unforgettable Giuni Russo were sung on the beaches. Successes that still mark the most popular season of the year today.
The vintage look is today the undisputed protagonist.
