Hustle culture: The ding of an email notification warrants an immediate response, and a fourth Zoom meeting often calls for yet another cup of coffee. Though many of our homes now function as both an office and a space to relax, pausing to slip into something a bit cozier can help us also shift our state of mind.

Leaning into the benefits of solitude and refuge, Loro Piana brings forward its new Cocooning Collection. As a caterpillar must first hide itself away before it morphs into a butterfly and takes flight, humans, too, wrap themselves in calm, enveloping garments in the hope of transforming.

Cozying up in the collection is the busy activist, businesswoman, and actress Maggie Q, who places a high value on living intentionally. After achieving success as an actor in Hong Kong under the tutelage of Jackie Chan, she went on to star in Mission: Impossible lll, The Protégé, and other blockbusters, plus The CW’s spy thriller series Nikita. Q’s passion for environmental activism has led her to partner with organizations such as PETA and wildAid, as well as to found Qeep Up, an environmentally conscious activewear line. Lounging in a monochromatic crop top, skirt, and luxe ribbed socks, the actress speaks to a theme that mirrors that of the collection: “I think that life should be very intentional, and when you have the power to bring attention to things that you are passionate about, you should.”

Crafted from cashmere, baby cashmere, cashmere and silk, and cashmere jersey, the collection comes in a soft color palette full of earthy beiges, light pinks, and creamy whites. Shorts, camisoles, crop tops, socks, and cardigans can be endlessly mixed and matched. For days that require a bit more of a cashmere fortress, a pair of trousers, an Ajour slip dress, or a turtleneck offers an additional layer of elegant protection. The outcome? The crème de la crème of loungewear looks unable to be truly captured in blanket terms. Although, that’s the point, according to Maggie Q.

“I do love beauty. I love art, and design, and when fashion gets it right, it’s like poetry,” she says.

Yet, just because the garments are cozy, warm, and lounge-worthy doesn’t mean that they need to be stuck at home. With their clean designs and timeless nature, the capsule pieces can supplement any number of outfits. Perhaps allowing one to bring some peace with them wherever they may go.
