The Max Mara Spring Summer 2024 fashion show has a very evocative name, "An Army of Women ", which means an army of women. In fact, the collection for the next summer season is inspired by the heroines of the "Women's Landy Army", a group of women who came together in the 1940s to work the land during the war, thus supporting a nation in difficulty. The heart of the collection is a utility style inspired precisely by workwear , therefore by work garments, which are revisited to be luxurious creations. Another source of inspiration is the Sissinghurst garden of the English poet Vita Sackville-West, from which the lively floral prints come, created in a refined black on beige. A tribute to horticulture mania cannot be missed , with open-back dresses inspired by gardening aprons and dresses in three layers of chiffon with gabardine shoulder straps for a chic style, from day to night.

Among the key pieces are the workwear classics, from jodhpur trousers to overall tracksuits, in drill dyed in a range of dense colors inspired by those of flowers. There is also room for neutral shades such as the sand shades chosen for the jackets and trench coats. While the dresses feature characteristic elements such as the open back proposed in three layers of chiffon with gabardine shoulder straps.

Large bags will more easily contain a laptop and a lunch box than flowers picked in the garden. And those strappy, high-heeled sandals were not meant for working in the countryside. But the elegant casual land girl style will accompany them from morning to night, at least in the city.
