Motocross, the end-of-summer trend loved by celebrities
From Rosalía to Kim Kardashian, the celebrities who followed the trend by wearing leather jackets and pants in the late summer period
Trend back in vogue in the first months of 2022 from the release of Rosalía 's album Motomami - in the cover the singer is completely naked, wearing only a motorcycle helmet - Motocross is the trend that has depopulated in the last year: from Kim Kardashian to Bella Hadid up to Chiara Ferragni.
The perfect Motocross-style look starts right from the motorcycle jacket, combined not necessarily with thigh-high boots and racer jumpsuits, but also with jeans, short bikers, skirts, Texans and sneakers.
The first designer to bring the biker aesthetic to the runways was Yves Saint Laurent for Dior in 1960 and later Vivienne Westwood and Jean Paul Gaultier . Today, however, the biker aesthetic can be divided into several variations: a more pop one close to Y2K fashion and Japanese manga - seen in the Diesel spring summer 2023 fashion show where the belt-miniskirts were combined with thigh boots and motorcycle jackets or like the daring outfit sported by it-girl Julia Fox .
Also seen on the catwalks of the most famous brands during fashion weeks such as Chanel, Balenciaga and Alexander McQueen, each brand has interpreted the trend in its own way. From bikers to rockers led by the Sex Pistols and Ramones, passing through movie stars like Marlon Brando, they have transformed the leather jacket into a must-have item for rebels, rockers and subcultures. Trend also followed in cinema including in The Girl On a Motorcycle by Marianne Faithfull, in Barb Wire by Pamela Anderson or in The girl with the dragon tattoo? from Rooney Mara , from Trinity in The Matrix , Zoë Kravitz in The Batman and Charlize Theron in Mad Max: Fury Road .
