Pablo Picasso was a Spanish painter best known for his revolutionary movement called Cubism. Born in Málaga, Spain, on October 25, 1881, Picasso was taught the art of painting and drawing at the age of 13. At a very young age, the young Picasso showed extraordinary talent and was admitted to Barcelona’s prestigious School of Fine Arts.

Known for reinventing himself, Picasso was a radical artist who acquired different styles of craftmanship and continued to evolve with each piece using different techniques. He most notably pioneered Cubism, a style of painting where objects are broken apart and reassembled to showcase an abstracted form so that the geometric shapes depict simultaneous viewpoints to create collage-like effects.

Even after his death in 1973, his impact on art is so ubiquitous that its imprint has reached fashion through collections from Yves Saint Laurent, Moschino, Prada, and more. From sweaters to dresses, bright colors to and geometric silhouettes, fashion designers brought Picasso’s paintings to life on the runway. As remember the artist on what would have been his 141st birthday, L’OFFICIEL has curated some of the best Picasso-inspired runway moments through history.
