Pierpaolo Piccioli wins the title of Designer of the Year for the first time in 2018, to double this year in the 2022 edition of the British Fashion Awards . For the Italian designer, the most coveted and prestigious prize awarded by a jury of around 1,000 experts in the BFA sector. Joining him in the running were designers Jonathan Anderson , Matthieu Blazy , Miuccia Prada , Raf Simons and Demna , later dropped from the nominations following recent controversies related to the brand's campaigns. He is closely followed by Bella Hadid who wins the Model of the Year award, Jefferson Hack for the Special Recognition Award for Cultural Curation, Wales Bonner as Independent British Brand, Burberry wins the Fashion Award for Metaverse Design while the Patagonia BCORP brand the Outstanding Achievement Award together with Gabriela Hearst, Bethany Williams, Conner Ives, Priya Ahluwalia and Marine Serre who win the Environment Leaders of Change award.
