RAF SIMONS THE MEN'S AND WOMEN'S SHOW SPRING SUMMER 2023
Raf Simons shows in London with the women's and men's spring summer 2023 collection. As at a concert or a rave, the guests were welcomed in a setting without seats, forcing the spectators to watch the show from the bottom up. Insisting music, green laser beams and a visual projection of Anthony Huxley's “Solo (Excerpt)” performance choreographed by Justin Peck.
Clean silhouettes parade on the catwalk, with minimal cut garments and proportions contrasts between oversize and super fit. Bodysuits and leggings become the same basis for masculine and feminine looks, an au pair wardrobe that is layered with very light wide-knit pullovers, mesh vests, crossover between cardigans and short catsuits, leather jackets, tailored blazers and sleeveless. The Raf Simons labels are back in sight and also the metal armbands. The palette has a predominance of neutral colors such as black, white and gray which are pierced with primary shades such as red, yellow and some touch of light blue.

The monochromatic looks are interspersed with a few polka dots and garments bearing reproductions of the works of the artist Philippe Vandenberg (1952 - 2009). Moving, provocative, it forces us to reflect: the central theme of Vandenbergh's work is man's struggle with himself and with others, observed through the lens of cultural, political and social history. In Vandenberg's art, this struggle is often critical, sometimes compassionate, but always colorful and loaded with subtle humor.
After the show-ending bow, Raf Simons jumps off the catwalk and welcomes guests for the post-show meet and greet. Wearing the famous sweatshirt with the words “Isolated Heroes” in memory of the famous book made in collaboration with David Sims.
