The power of Schiaparelli's Haute Couture
Daniel Roseberry brings on stage at the Haute Couture Week in Paris a powerful show that conveys messages of peace, freedom and that creative innocence that accompanies the creative director's thought shared by the stylistic codes of the maison founded by Elsa Schiaparelli.
While the exhibition "Shocking! Les Mondes surréalistes d'Elsa Schiaparelli" dedicated to the founder of the Schiaparelli brand, creative director Daniel Roseberry brings the new fall/winter 2022-23 collection to the stage during Haute Couture Week. "In recent years, it seems that fashion has done everything to prove that it is not silly" explains creative director Daniel Roseberry in a press release "The pressure that designers feel they must express on the political situation, on the ongoing climate disaster, on the inequalities between people of different races and sexes, in an age of war, has led to extraordinary work. Not to mention the rapporchement of our sector with culture in the broadest and most interesting sense, of a true involvement with the global reality."
In the collection, all this translates into the Schiaparelli lexicon: bustier dresses with velvet ribs, matelassé satin tops that ergonomically reflect the models' breasts, metal earcuff tops with a shower of pearls, satin dresses with full-rounded drapes and dresses in beaten metal studded with brilliants. And then a triumph of grapes and flowers, which are structured with jewel applications directly on the garments, accessories and bodies of the models.

I always talk about trying to reach that state of creative innocence, to fight to stay close to that person who has fallen in love with fashion and its possibilities, not to succumb to the cynicism or wear and tear of the world. Sometimes we get defensive when critics accuse us of only wanting to do good things. But what's wrong with wanting to do beautiful things? Wonder is not the only important component of life, of course, but it is one of its components. And among the most vital. And making truly fascinating things isn't that easy. But it is a privilege, of which I am aware - and very grateful - every day "Daniel Roseberry
