Stella McCartney: Stella Sustainable Market for Spring-Summer 2024
Presented in 22 stalls, the "Stella Sustainable Market" has been using innovative cruelty-free and conscious materials for over 20 years. The spring summer 2024 collection explores Stella's roots in the music and clothes found in her parents' wardrobes, care for her fellow human beings and Mother Earth.
The Marché Saxe-Breteuil in Paris transforms into the Stella Sustainable Market, with 21 stalls inviting guests to experiment with the collection's innovative materials and explore themes related to the Stella McCartney collection. Made with 95% conscious materials it is Stella McCartney 's most responsible collection to date. Eclectic and ageless, the Stella McCartney spring summer 2024 collection blurs the boundaries between genres and generations, reinterpreting the garments from Stella and her parents' archive based on textures, proportions and decorations, embellished with the art of the sculptor and English creator Andrew Logan.
Black pinstripe tailcoats are paired with ruffled shirts and bodysuits studded with lead-free diamonds that adorn hot pants and sashes over iconic Savile Row tailoring, while diamond fringes punctuate loose-fitting organic cotton denim. Mirrored polka dots are handcrafted into ecru knitted dresses using Kelsun ™️ - a seaweed-based yarn, a world first for luxury - and as appliqués on denim. The tailcoat is presented with a short cut and corset, first in black and white and then in mineral blue, peach and ivory lurex. The bibs are present on the organic cotton poplin shirts and on the denim jackets, with matching band inserts.
Inspired by Paul and Linda McCartney's life on tour, Wings' vintage graphics are revisited on organic cotton t-shirts. Under a varsity jacket featuring the work of artist Hajime Sorayama, a limited-edition capsule will launch in December 2023. Stage looks are reinterpreted as metallic brocade tailoring, along with black and crystal-encrusted vests, paired with shirts in poplin with ruffles.
The silhouette is the focus, with balloon shapes on dresses, minidresses and bomber jackets in NONA Source's repurposed silk taffetas and forest-friendly viscose satins. Whimsical polka dots also appear on women's dresses, minidresses and tiered chiffon skirts.
Beading decorates nude viscose satin bustier dresses and mint green organic silk crepe mini dresses, as well as the busts of black taffeta off-the-shoulder maxi dresses. The iconic flowers painted by Stella bloom on draped eco-viscose maxi dresses and asymmetrical mini dresses. Proportions shift with cropped jackets and maxi bikers in a vegan alternative to animal skin, alongside voluminous, form-fitting trench coats in olive cotton canvas. Stella's archive corsets lace up over denim, hot pants and trousers by Alter Mat.
The strapless dresses, cut from body-revealing tulle with floral appliqués, are made from reclaimed fabrics, while the white flapper dresses are made from organic parachute silk. The collection concludes with balloon ruffles on floor-length maxi dresses that play with the transparency and opacity of polka dots in soft canary yellow, mint and nude organic silk crêpe.
Among the accessories is the Frayme bag made with a vegan alternative to animal leather using grape by-products from the Veuve Clicquot harvest, fully traceable and grown according to regenerative agriculture practices. The iconic Falabella is revisited in new woven, crystal-encrusted triangle silhouettes, plus a gray edition in plant-based, plastic-free MIRUM®.
The new Terra pumps feature sculptural heels with Y2K grape-based VEGEA straps, twisted turban uppers and bio-based knotted mesh. The S-Wave Sport sneaker is made with entirely conscious materials, recycled upper and sole, organic cotton label and hemp lining.
