The sophisticated rise of mini shorts

Ultra low-waisted shorts, which were frequently preferred by Kate Moss, Amy Winehouse, Rihanna and Beyonce at festivals and on the catwalk, are looking forward to the summer of 2024.

If you have buried the short shorts in your wardrobe deep in the 2000s, you are wrong. Ultra low-waisted short shorts, which were often preferred by names such as Kate Moss, Amy Winehouse, Rihanna and Beyonce at festivals and on the catwalk, are winking at our 2024 summer. We will not forget our mid-length shorts and the return of the Bermuda. However, we are here to give our short shorts another chance after Gucci's 2024 Spring/Summer show.

Of course, we combine the short shorts of the summer of 2024 in many different ways according to the fashion of the 2000s. Sometimes our short shorts appear with a lace piece, as in the Micheal Kors SS24 collection, sometimes with leather and a much brighter look, as in LaQuan SS24. Sometimes our short shorts appear with our crop-tops, sometimes with our loose and slightly open shirts. Our shoes, which change the stance of our body and therefore our shorts, sometimes consist of a classic heeled shoe, sometimes our sneakers that we never compromise on their comfort, and sometimes our long boots that emphasize #BratGirlSummer

Today's short shorts trend is a continuation of a short-lived shorts trend called hot pants in 1971. First worn by Ginger Rogers and studio dancers in musicals, tap shorts were widely adopted by movie stars such as Marilyn Monroe and Betty Grable and were often paired with heels for publicity photos.

The new season’s short shorts trend was, of course, underpinned by brands that are our constant source of inspiration. Stella McCartney made her SS24 collection with gold brocade shorts and crystal-embellished cumberbunds. and Prince of Wales plaid coats. Tom Ford’s new designer Peter Hawkings showcased a series of short shorts in embossed glitter and cotton velvet. Prada offered 20 different double-belted wool shorts that matched wool blazers, printed poplin shirts or cashmere polos. In short, it seems like we’re getting used to seeing short shorts everywhere in the summer of 2024.
