5 Best Salads In Ibiza
Looking for a fresh, delicious salad to intersperse the Iberico and chipirones? Look no further. Our wellness editor Kim Pearson has scoured the island for Ibiza’s best salads.
I have strong opinions about salads. As a big salad fan, it saddens me how many miserable, ‘sad salads’ form people’s opinions of a dish with so much potential. You can leave the iceberg lettuce, flavourless tomatoes and drying cucumber slices out of this conversation. They have no place here. Salads should be vibrant, juicy and mouth-watering. They should delight your tastebuds as they nourish your body. On an island where you can have anything, a flavoursome, satisfying salad should not be beyond the realm of possibility. And that, it is not. I have tested each of the below dishes at least once (most, more so). Here are my best salad finds in Ibiza.
Juntos: Roasted pumpkin, Homemade labneh, Kale pesto, Dukkah and Pomegranate
Using ingredients from Juntos farm, this salad combines sweet pumpkin flavoured with Middle Eastern spices, fresh herbs, pomegranate and creamy labneh. It’s as much a feast for the eyes as it is for the mouth. Juntos is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates the freshest, local, seasonal produce.
Passion: Salmon Avocado Bowl
In town and in need of a healthy but tasty lunch? You can always rely on Passion. Their salmon and avocado bowl is filled with brown rice, edamame, pickles, turmeric cashews and a moreish miso dressing. It’s delicious and satisfying. With locations in Ibiza town, Marina Botafoch, Santa Eulalia and Playa d’en Bossa, you’re never far from a Passion.
Hambre: Vegan Caesar Kale Salad
On the ever-changing menu of Hambre, one thing remains constant: their legendary kale salad. I challenge you to find anyone who makes kale taste as good as the chefs at Hambre do. Massaged to tenderise, the kale is soft and coated in the most delicious tahini dressing with nutritional yeast sprinkles to give a cheesy, umami tang.
Aubergine: Aubergine, Pomegranate and Pistachio with Feta
The famous agrotourismo, Atzaro, branched out, launching sister restaurant Aubergine, a beautiful country-chic farm-to-table restaurant. If you’re an Ottolenghi fan, don’t miss a stop off at Aubergine by Atzaro for their aubergine, date and pomegranate salad with pistachios and the options of traditional or vegan feta. If you’re lucky you might happen upon a night where they have live music under the fairy lights.
El Chiringuito: King Crab & Prawn
El Chiringuito’s King Crab & Prawn Salad combines succulent seafood with fresh, vibrant greens and a dressing duo. This dish features tender king crab and juicy prawns, paired with creamy avocado, peppery rocket, and crisp spinach leaves. Finished with a tangy cocktail sauce and green mayo. Enjoy it with views of the ocean and a cool sea breeze.
