Baubles, Twirls & Holiday Curls - Bringing Christmas nostalgia with the 60’s beehive
Let's have some festive fun and create an iconic Christmas hairstyle. Ibiza hair stylist Faye Browne Hair got creative with Lilli Kelly’s long luscious locks; the longer the hair, the higher the beehive.
Beehive hair styles are created by backcombing or teasing the hair with a comb, creating a tangled pile which is lightly combed over to make a smooth outer surface. I used the ‘Hair By Sam Mcknight - Easy Up Do’ to create texture on the hair to hold with the back comb. To smooth the out surface of the hair I applied ‘Hair By Sam Mcknight Happy Endings’ this product added a lovely shine and gloss.
Beehive styles of the early 1960's sometimes overlapped with bouffant styles which you tease to create hair volume. The beehive effect was a rounded cone piled upwards from the top of the head, while the simple bouffant was a wider, puffier shape covering the ears at the sides.
With this beehive, I added simple swirls and curls to the beehive, I used the ends of the hair to create the curls and pinned them. The curls add dimension to the finished style. Finished with some red baubles for a christmas pop and a cute bow on the top to finish as you would with a dazzling christmas tree!
Happy holidays from Ibiza
