Five Ibiza beaches for spring sunshine.
Sun, sea and sheltered dips for these magical spring months.
S’Arenal Gran
This postcard-pretty beach in the retro northern resort of Portinatx is a low-season gem, when the ice-white sands are devoid of holidaymakers and the sea laps gently around the rocky shore. The northern side, with its low boulders and scrubby headland is perfect for adventurous children who want to paddle, play and explore.
Sa Caleta
Who doesn’t love a slice of history with their beach time? Sa Caleta is home to the earliest known human habitation on the island, the Phoenician settlement of the same name. Spend 15 minutes exploring the fascinating ruins before taking a picnic down the cove of Es Bol Nou. On weekends, the excellent seafood restaurant is open and there’s often live music to soundtrack your deliciously daring dip.
Salinas
Sexy, southerly Salinas is a beach for all seasons – from brisk hikes in winter to sun-soaked Sundays in summer. The iconic Jockey Club chiringuito remains open at weekends during the off season, meaning that on a bright day it’s still perfectly possible to have a lazy beach lunch (epic soundtrack included) followed by a bracing swim out across the white sand sea floor.
Cala d’en Serra
This hard-to-find northern gem is one of Ibiza’s prettiest coves, with deep blue waters ringed by pine forests and silvery cliffs. To the left you’ll find a clutch of charming fisherman’s huts, the perfect spot to lay out your picnic and bask in the early season summer vibes.
Cala Llenya
This vast expanse of ice-white sand is the northern locals’ favourite for its clear blue waters, protected location and gently lapping waves. If you’re feeling active then a rugged 70-minute hike will take you across the cliffs and around the headland to the northern end of Cala Nova. A perfect walks before the weather gets too hot.
