We have seen impeccable creations at Couture week in Paris. A theme amongst Kid Super, Schiaparelli, and Chanel is immaculate, softly sculpted skin, from matte to an ethereal finish.
A pared-back complexion, subtly enhancing your features, is simple to recreate. Keeping your complexion understated also leaves room for a key focus—as Chanel has done here with a vibrant warm red lip.
A must-have for creating a natural sculpt is Tom Ford’s Shade and Illuminate. This versatile cream duo features both contour and highlight shades, making it incredibly blendable and easy to work with. To sculpt, apply the contour shade along areas that naturally create shadows, such as beneath the cheekbones and along the jawline. The result is sharper, more defined features. The key is to understand your own face shape and sculpt accordingly. For the highlight, focus on areas where you want to create light and lift—such as the tops of the cheekbones, the cupid’s bow, brow bones, and nose.
Schiaparelli showcased a hyper-real skin finish, with iridescent highlights of pale pinks and lilacs. This is an easy way to add touches of colour while keeping the skin super chic. I love the Pat McGrath Sublime Highlighting Trio. Add this to the tops of the cheeks and eyes to finish off your look.
I had the pleasure of working on the Kid Super show, keyed by the talented Marieke Thibaut. For the models, we used bronzer in shades suited to their skin tones to add warmth and definition to the face and eyes, all with a matte finish. To achieve velvety matte skin, ByTerry’s Hydra Powder is a great choice. It’s a finely milled, sheer powder that gives a natural, long-lasting finish. It’s also perfect for those with oily skin who want a flawless look that lasts all day.
As we look ahead to Paris Fashion Week, I predict we'll see a continuation of ethereal skin with dual chrome finishes. I anticipate pastel-toned liners and metallic shadows that add a touch of whimsy, as well as subtle graphic elements that keep things interesting without overwhelming the face.
I can’t wait to see the creations!
I hope this breakdown helps you achieve your own fashion week looks!
