Ibiza: A Christmas Gift Guide

The holidays are almost upon us. L’OFFICIEL IBIZA’s Editorial Director Maya Boyd handpicks the Ibiza-inspired gifts she’ll be giving (and hopefully receiving) this season.

Ibiza's residents are a prolifically creative bunch. From jewellery to incense to home décor, I'll do all my Christmas shopping here on the island in a way that supports local makers, artisans and our community as a whole. With love, Maya x

A glass jar of Island Witch Crafts smudge smoke blend

Sofía Gomez is from Chile but has lived in Ibiza for many years. She creates the most magical incense and smudging bundles from wild herbs and plants foraged in the forests of Ibiza. Along with making coffee, lighting a pinch of her Magic Smoke blend is the first thing I do when I wake up. It is uplifting, invigorating and absolutely evocative of the island.

Vassoio recycled copper glass holder and glasses by ChAI ShOP

My dear friends Alexeja and Diego at San Lorenzo's ChAI ShOP have the most glorious taste in décor. These water glasses and recycled copper holders are handmade to their specification in Marrakech. On a summer table piled high with vibrant plates of food, this is the chicest way to serve iced water. Over Christmas, I'll fill mine with warm clove-and-orange scented elixirs for sipping by the fire.

ChAI ShOP essentials is a capsule collection of items designed by diegoandalexeja, an art and design studio based in Ibiza. All products are produced in small , one of a kind series' with artisans around the world.

A Casagaía x Ibiza boat bag

This is by my own label so I’ll be giving rather than receiving, but my friends can all expect one of my monogrammed Casagaía boat bags, which make the perfect clutch or cosmetics case. The print features hand painted motifs of Ibiza, from Es Vedra to a finca to the skyline of Dalt Vila.

The shell pochette by Bomé

I adore this family-run store in the heart of historic San Miguel. I’d absolutely love to find one of their gleaming leather shell pochettes at the bottom of my Christmas stocking as it’s the perfect size for day or night.

A bottle of Evelyn Naon perfume

Evelyn’s evocative fragrances are inspired by the ancient trading routes between Ibiza and the Middle East and are rich in powerful oils like Omani frankincense, Yemeni myrrh and mastic Resin. Salalah has been my signature scent for a long time now and I’d be lost without it.

A copy of Ibiza/Eivissa: A Hundred Years of Light and Shade by Barbary Press

Martin Davies is Ibiza’s foremost English-speaking historian and academic and he has been a mentor of mine for many years. His most famous book, Ibiza/Eivissa: A Hundred Years of Light and Shade, is a must-have for anyone interested in Ibiza’s history and heritage.

A Supernaturae hand-dyed kaftan

I’ve been coveting a dress by Supernaturae for years. The founder Benedicte Lux creates dreamy one-off kaftans in rural Mexico using natural dyes and hand embroidery in the most beautiful, rich colours. The indigo and grey ones are particularly magnificent. In summer I’d wear mine to dinner on sultry evenings with flat sandals, undone hair and heaps of gold jewellery. On cooler winter days, I'd pop a roll-neck underneath and wear with cosy mocassin boots.

M-Bark’s wavy mug

Hip Santa Eulalia-based ceramics brand M-Bark have a mint green wavy-handled mug that I’ve had my eye on for ages. It’s the perfect size for my morning coffee and is in a celadon-green colour that I absolutely adore. I’d buy three and keep them lined up on a shelf like sculptures.

One of Emile Durrer Gasse’s photography prints

Emile Durrer Gasse is one of my favourite photographers on the planet and he captures Ibiza and Formentera in a saturated, almost translucent manner. A childhood spent on the island means his images convey a nostalgic intimacy and his colour palette – sea greens, dusty blues and pale, matte sand – is both calming and transportive. One of his framed prints from Galería Elefante would make the ideal gift for any of my island friends.

A bottle of Umiko kombucha

I’m a huge fan of kombucha and Umiko is hands-down the best I’ve ever tasted. In fact, it’s the best drink I’ve ever tasted, full-stop! The flavours are crisp and fresh, the colours are bright and it’s all handmade here in a little atelier in Ibiza Town. There is one flavour in particular – the vibrant, spirulina-slaked, blue edition – that I’d be happy to drink every day forever. In heavy glass bottles with beautiful stoppers, these artisan drinks are the perfect alternative to wine and make a special gift for your holiday host.

A pair of Scarlett Day’s Eye rings

Cult contemporary jeweller Scarlett Day was raised in Ibiza, where she hand-makes jewellery using gold and semi-precious stones. I love the graphic simplicity of her Eye ring, which comes in an array of gleaming candy colours. I’d buy two – one green, one blue - and wear on each thumb.
