Ibiza’s rich history, free-spirited 1970s culture, and thriving electronic music scene have profoundly shaped both the personal and professional journeys of Marta Sánchez Castañeda and Elbio Bonsaglio, the creative minds behind 282US. Their work is deeply inspired by the island’s vibrant culture and artistic movements, making it a constant source of influence and creativity.

We are Marta Sánchez Castañeda and Elbio Bonsaglio. We run a creative direction agency named 282US, specialising in fashion, electronic music, food, and hospitality. Though we are based in Milan, the place we call home, Ibiza holds a special place in our hearts.

Honestly, we first discovered the island in our twenties for one reason—partying. We were instantly drawn to its energy. Though the island has changed over the years, its essence remains truly unique and special.

As soon as we land, the first thought that crosses our minds is, “Che bello che siamo a Ibiza!” We absolutely love this place, and the moment we arrive, an overwhelming sense of happiness washes over us.

From the very first time we visited together, we’ve felt a deep sense of belonging. We love the atmosphere, the people, and the incredible friendships we’ve formed with people from all over the world. Every time we return, it feels like coming home.

Ibiza has had a significant impact on both our work and our lives. Our love for electronic music goes beyond the sound itself—it’s about the sense of community it fosters. Over the years, we’ve connected with many people from the scene in Ibiza, and since founding 282US in 2021, we’ve had the opportunity to collaborate as creative directors and designers with various artists and clubs, including Pacha Ibiza, Music On, Carlita, and DJ Tennis. Working with these Ibiza-based brands has continually encouraged us to revisit the island’s rich history and origins for creative inspiration.

Ibiza is undoubtedly a source of inspiration for us, particularly its history and everything the island represented in the 1970s. The laid-back lifestyle, the hippie movement, and the sense of freedom that defined that era continue to influence and inspire us today.

One of our projects that drew direct inspiration from Ibiza was the collaboration between our brand, KIDSOBROKENFUTURE, and Pacha Ibiza. The prints, colours, and overall essence were entirely influenced by the island’s unique atmosphere. In fact, during the three years, we served as creative directors for Pacha Ibiza’s collections, our designs were deeply inspired by the island’s 1970s lifestyle—a period we particularly cherish for its spirit of freedom and effortless way of life.

What fascinates us most about Ibiza’s artistic and cultural scene is its long-standing ability to bring together people from all backgrounds to celebrate music and life.

There are countless inspiring places on the island for us. If we had to highlight a few, Atlantis would definitely be one of them. The journey down is an experience in itself, and once you arrive, it feels like stepping back in time, with remnants of hippie structures and markings still present. Another incredibly special and inspiring spot is Es Vedrà, where we can truly feel the unique energy that the island radiates.

The island’s lifestyle and culture always remind us to slow down, appreciate the little moments, and fully embrace each experience.

For me, it’s more about how I feel when I’m there—the sensation of sand against my skin, the first rays of morning sunshine, the sight of trees while driving, and the taste of a good paella. It’s the combination of all these sensations that stirs deep emotions.

We always feel a bit melancholic when leaving Ibiza. It marks the end of the holidays, and that’s never an easy feeling.
