Ibiza unfiltered: launch of a new book of the archive of Oriol Maspons.
IDEA Books publishes Ibiza’s newest must-have photography book edition.
‘My father Oriol Maspons' photographs are a testimony to the evolution of Ibiza and our society over four decades, as the result of his travels that began in the mid-50's until the end of the 1980s.’ So says Alex Maspons, who, along with Emma Salahi of Ibiza’s Agony and Ecstasy gallery, sees the release today of a book of Oriol’s iconic Ibiza imagery.
‘We grew up in a culture and with customs that are now reproached', continues Alex. ‘Let everyone draw their own conclusions. The first debate could focus on whether we have evolved or devolved. And then we can discuss freedom and today's restrictions. This book may offend those who dictate today's new morality – perhaps it should be consumed in moderation!’
Emma Salahi, who has produced the book along with London’s IDEA Books, is passionate about the late photographer’s archive. ‘It's a privilege to be able to bring Oriol Maspons photographical archive of Ibiza into a physical and collectable book for everyone to be mesmerised by. It's very important to me to be able to continue Oriol's legacy and also that of the the people within the photographs, many of whom have passed away. Their stories and antics during their summers in Ibiza will live on forever in this book, and to bring it to Ibiza, back to its origin, is just pure bliss. No coffee table will be complete without a copy.’
