Ibiza’s Sant Ciriac – the five best places to watch tonight’s fireworks

It’s the island’s premier festival day today and it’s a spectacle like no other on the island. Here are the five best places to watch the display.

Ibiza fizzes with festive fervour today as the island-wide Festival of Sant Ciriac honours the Catalan conquest of Ibiza and symbolises new beginnings for the island. While the day begins with a ceremony in the cathedral in honour of Saint Ciriac followed by a procession that unites all all the parish flags of Ibiza, it is after dark that the fun really takes hold. At midnight, Ibiza Town erupts with fireworks, shooting out across the harbour and illuminating the Old Town walls.

Lado

The newest kid on the Marina Botafoch block, this upscale Spanish restaurant takes all the best elements of the Iberian Peninsula – produce, provenance, preparation – and reworks them into cool and contemporary dishes that have more than a touch of urban verve. Head chef Ángel Maria Zapata Martín is ex-Barrafina (AKA London’s hippest hangout) and it shows.

Mikasa

Generally speaking, Mikasa’s mint-julep tiled rooftop is a soothing sanctuary where plant-based cuisine and laidback island vibes lead the way. Come August 8 it’s a one-stop shop for Ibiza Town fun, as the restaurants ringside seats make it the best place to watch the spectacular show.

Nobu Hotel Ibiza Bay

Ibiza Bay’s buzzy Talamanca Beach restaurant, Chambao, hosts a family-friendly evening barbecue on the sands before night falls and the action heads to the rooftop, where extraordinary, panoramic views take in Dalt Vila and the whole of the harbour sky along with far-reaching views across the bay to Cap Martinet and beyond.

Roto

Roto’s unbeatable waterside location, upbeat soundtrack and open-air dining terrace have made it a favourite for those who want all the buzz of a club with the laidback, cosmopolitan vibe of a restaurant. Fabulous food and the best views of Dalt Vila.

Pacha

Supper in Pacha’s intimate, multi-level restaurant is a classic, and there’s no better time than the week the club turns 50. Head up to the panoramic rooftop – home to Pacha’s iconic open-air bar – at midnight to watch Ibiza Town explode with colour and sound.
