The <a href="https://www.sewa.org" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Self-Employed Women&rsquo;s Association</a> (SEWA) is India&rsquo;s largest central trade union. Since 1972 it has garnered a with a membership of over 2.1 million economically challenged female workers across 18 states in India. Using the Gandian principles of&nbsp;Satya&nbsp;(truth),&nbsp;Ahinsa&nbsp;(non-violence),&nbsp;Sarvadharma&nbsp;(integrating all faiths and all people) and&nbsp;Khadi&nbsp;(propagation of local employment and self-reliance), SEWA has been working for over 5 decades to improve the livelihoods of self-employed women workers from the informal economy, through various initiatives such as technology, technical training, microfinance, market access and resource management.

Women&rsquo;s Interlink Foundation
Inaugurated in 1990, the <a href="https://womensinterlinkfoundation.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Women's Interlink Foundation</a> (WIF) is a non-governmental organization working towards implementing integrated women, child and community development projects. WIF champions literacy for women and children; prevention of violence against the vulnerable; rescue, rehabilitation and reintegration of trafficked victims and action against deprivation of basic rights.
Each WIF item is made by a woman who has been rescued from her former life. Each label reads &lsquo;After being freed from child marriage, trafficking and abuse. After being given shelter and a home. After being taught how to print, how to sew. This is a step to my new life&rsquo; and is signed by the individual maker.&nbsp;

&nbsp;JOY Foundation Nepal
The<a href="https://lagaleriaelefante.com/ngos/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> JOY Foundation Nepal </a>was founded by Dayan and her Nepalese husband and established with the strength of their community to collectively deliver services and assistance to the most marginalised members of their society. Focusing largely on the fields of health and education, the NGO facilitates support for the elderly with a focus on hand stitched blankets and clothing, awareness programs and environmental activities. JOY also sponsors disadvantaged students and supports better education for children with disabilities
