Not only because it is Aquarius Season - the Sun transits the constellation between 21st January and 18th February every year. Our month-long opportunity to celebrate our favourite weird and wonderful Aquarian friends!

But also because of an event that last happened over 200 years ago, and is so transformative it will change the division and direction of power forever over the course of the next 20 years.

A few days ago on 20th January, Pluto - the sign of power, secrets and alchemy - moved into Aquarius. It did so led closely by the Sun, as if it was shining extra light, significance and vital force on the dawning of this new era. Over the course of Pluto's transit in Aquarius it will help us all adjust to a more equal, collaborative power structure. One where we lead from within with personal authority. Self leadership, authentic expression and embracing our individuality for the win until 2044!

Don’t be fooled into thinking that this will be an insignificant, quiet transit. Pluto destroys what is decayed or surplus. It reveals hidden secrets, excavating them from the depths of the darkness for them to be fully exposed, then slowly reassembling what's left of the rubble from the ground up, something greater than before.

With Pluto in Aquarius this will be with innovation beyond what we can currently conceive, the rise of individuality, huge quantum leaps that bend time and a horizontal, fairer, more equal structure. Aquarius is the rebel with a cause. It is provocative - not for the sake of it but to help us all think differently where we may be stuck in rigid thinking. It also rules Astrology so we can expect this to see a continued rise and acceptance of this powerful predictive tool.

While Pluto has been in Capricorn since 2008, we have gotten too comfortable outsourcing our authority, following conformity and allowing capitalism to lead. Just walk down any high street in the world and it's the same global outlets, from Sephora to Starbucks. That was not the case 20 years ago.

You may not realise it yet, but The Age of Aquarius is here, and everything is about to change beyond anything we’ve experienced, starting now. A collective revolutionary awakening is upon us.

Most of all, we will learn that no one has authority over another. We are self leaders, more powerful than we know. And together, we are unstoppable.

The fixed signs; Aquarius, Taurus, Leo and Scorpio will feel this transit the most. If that’s you, don’t worry - simply observe your Cardinal sign friends; Capricorn, Aries and Cancer flourish and step more fully into their power now that Pluto is moving on. Sorry Libra, there’s a bit more to come for you in 2024!

Just after this monumental generational transit begins, we have the first Full Moon of the year.

On Thursday 25th January, the Sun and Pluto in Aquarius will oppose the Moon in Leo at 5 degrees. Our courageous, big-hearted, regal fire sign.

It asks us, at the very start of this bigger Pluto transit:

Where in our lives do we need to step into our power and lead with dignity, courageously from our hearts?

Full Moons reveal what has been previously hidden in the darkness. With Pluto involved, this is even more so. Full Moons are a time of revelation. When we receive news, or we feel internal shifts and awareness around something that we have not previously been able to access. Full Moons are a time of heightened emotions and sensitivity. The moon in astrology represents our unconscious drives and need for emotional safety and security. It’s often these that get triggered or exposed during the Full Moon lunar phase.

Over the coming days, it is likely that we will be presented with situations, conversations and people that enable us to see more clearly where we are not in our power. We can learn where to apply more grace, accept situations with dignity and allow love and forgiveness into our hearts. Not always easy or comfortable lessons to learn.

When dealing with Leo energy, we have to be cautious of too quickly falling into rigid ego battles with others, and resisting situations to prove a point. There is much prideful energy at play here. So remember; if you are faced with difficulty or challenge during the days before or after the Leo Full Moon, ask yourself:

Which is more important; to be kind or to be right?

Apply this question to yourself and others regularly over the coming weeks.

With war planet Mars and mouthy Mercury conjunct at the Full Moon this can further ignite simmering ego battles with sharp words and petty arguments. However important you think your point needs proving, take caution. A stubborn ego does not hear another stubborn ego. Whereas a truly dignified open heart can be heard and felt by everyone.

Just as well then that love planet of harmony, Venus will aspect expansive Jupiter with an easy flowing trine helping us expand into our heart centers more easily. What’s more, potentially showering us with good fortune and abundance as well!

Remember we create our own reality and experience in life. We always get to choose its direction. With Friday’s Full Moon opposite Pluto, it may expose ugly secrets that have some asserting their ego in a bid for self protection. However, the best form of protection is always love and a bold, expanded heart.
