15/09. Rumors at Playa Soleil
Guy Gerber continues his raucous Playa d’en Bossa residency with a line-up that includes Burning Man fave Lauren Lane and Miami-based music production and DJ duo Bedouin – AKA Tamer Malki and Rami Abousabe – who have pioneered a distinctive and timeless sound that draws on diverse influences including their Middle Eastern heritage, Western upbringing and global travels.
16.09. Mare Nostrum Folklore Festival
Expect dance, music and history at the XXV Folklòric Mare Nostrum Festival in Ibiza this weekend, as the five municipalities all join in the festivities.On Saturday evening, commencing at 7:30 PM, the stage will be set at the Caló de s’Oli auditorium in San José. The performers to look forward to include Los Doniz Folklore Association (Tenerife), Trébede Traditional Music and Dance Group (Pontevedra) and the local charm of Colla d’Aubarca (Ibiza). On Sunday, the program will scatter performances throughout the island at various locales including Vara de Rey, Plaza de Jesús, San Mateo and San Juan. This festival offers a splendid opportunity to delve into the tapestry of popular culture and savour the captivating rhythms of traditional dance.
20.09. Cosmic Tales
Local hero (and occasional L’OFFICIEL IBIZA music columnist) Jaime Fiorito presents the closing summer edition of Cosmic Tales at the Beach Caves — a sonic landscape curated by the Ibiza native and Balearic sound digger Jaime Fiorito. This week, follow along for a live surprise performance from a classic Balearic vibe, conjuring a mystical languor of shadeless summer days. Expect a cool island crowd for supper in the hotel’s atmospheric Beach Caves, where Fiorito and his band of comrades spin an eclectic selection of Balearic beat, future classics and little-known gems.
20.09. Solomun at the Port
Ibiza favourite free party returns with Hamburg house hero Solomun throwing down the gauntlet for another vast open-air rave. For the eighth consecutive year, Solomun will grace Ibiza Town’s legendary port district with the wildest of parties, bringing together music lovers from across the island from 20.00 to 23.00.
23/9. Alive
Over the past eight years, Morena Leraba has become a globally acclaimed flagbearer of a remodelled Lesotho sound, manifested through a series of live performances, numerous high-wattage collaborations and a debut EP recorded in Johannesburg. A sub-genre of Sesotho traditional music or poetry, Famo is famous in Morena Leraba's home district of Mafeteng (south of Lesotho capital's Maseru) and Leraba creates an re-imagines version of this traditional sound.
28/09. Beat Hotel presents Island Times at The Standard
Island Times invites a diverse selection of creatives to showcase the influence of Ibiza on their art, including a conversation with countercultural visionary and author Irvine Welsh, live music from ambient pioneer Gigi Masin accompanied by selections from DJs Gaya Brisa and Luke Una. Michelin-Starred chef Brad Carter takes inspiration from Ibiza’s dancefloors for the menu, in the form of three courses - Warm Up, Main Room and Afterparty.
01/10. The Posidonia Race
These demanding swimming races are staged to raise awareness of the need to protect Ibiza’s Unesco-protected posidonia forests. The start of the races will take place in front of Cala D'Hort beach in the municipality of San José, from where the swimmers make a lap around the islands of Es Vedrà and Es Vedranell (in the case of the 10km race) and a route between the starting point and the island of Es Vedranell for the shorter race.
14/10. Alex Serra Album Launch at Tierra Iris
On the New Moon of October sees Ibiza’s musical community come together to celebrate the release of Alex Serra’s new album Trance Life, a musical journey created in Ibiza that tells stories about Serra’s roots, heartbreaks and joys in an intimate, atmospheric way. The ceremony will take place around an open fire in Tierra Iris’ natural amphitheatre.
