The freewheeling spirit of the 1970s lives on in these pockets of pure bohemia

These ochre-toned, terraced rocks tumble down to the deepest sea just north of San Antonio. Known by locals and Ibiza regulars simply as &lsquo;the rocks&rsquo; , Punta Galera retains a wild and untouched spirit not often found on this side of the island. There are zero facilities or shade, so this is a spot to visit in the early morning for a long cool swim around the rocks in impossible clear waters. Alternatively, head down with a cooler at the end of the day, when the otherworldly sunsets appear to make the rocks glow from within, eliciting cheerful clapping from the various hippies and nudists who gather here daily.

Punta Galera

Every Sunday the sleepy, one-horse town of San Juan springs to life with a fascinating village market. The main street of the town and the surrounding plazas are packed with mishmash of stalls selling everything from leather belts to percussion instruments to locally fermented kefir. Stallholders are a <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/ibiza/ibiza-s-hippy-markets-the-history-of-hippy-markets-ibiza-bohemian-spirit" target="_blank" rel="noopener">bohemian</a> bunch, with lots of Ibiza old timers who are happy sit and chat over a cup of chai in the square. The surrounding shops do a mean trade in refreshments &ndash; try locals&rsquo; fave <a href="https://www.facebook.com/saboresnaturalesibiza/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Sabores Naturales</a> for vegan pizza and quiche or the <a href="https://cafe.thegiri.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Giri Caf&eacute;</a> for upscale farm-to-fork menu - and a live band at the top of the square plays reggae classics to an upbeat crowd.

San Juan Market

Founded 30 years ago by a visionary healer named Lourdes, the <a href="https://www.facebook.com/GardenOfLightIBIZA/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Garden of Light</a> is an off-grid, solar-powered soulful sanctuary in the north of Ibiza that hosts seminars, retreats and concerts with a focus on wellbeing and spiritual growth. Wellness classes are held in the purpose-built Lotus Dome, whose seven doors represent the seven chakras and open out onto acres of organic flower and vegetable gardens, fruit orchards, forests, and mountains. Concerts by conscious creatives such as Guatemala-based <a href="https://www.instagram.com/mosemusica/?hl=en">Mose</a> and creative installations by the likes of <a href="https://www.eduardocastillo.com/">Eduardo Castillo</a> are open to the public by ticket.

The Garden of Light

In celebration of the vibrational power of natural crystals, the family at Crystal Mountain have created an astonishing display of India&rsquo;s most extraordinary healing stones bringing beautiful, powerful vibrant pieces of nature&rsquo;s art into homes around the world. At the heart of the mountain is the <a href="https://www.crystaltemple.love/">Crystal Temple</a>, whose aim is to create a link between ancient techniques and futuristic technology. Crystal Mountain

Atlantis is the name given by the <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/ibiza/ibiza-and-formentera-history-ibiza-hippies-and-hashish-ibiza-s-bohemian-past" target="_blank" rel="noopener">hippies</a> to Sa Pedrera de Cala d&rsquo;Hort, a disused coastal quarry near the beach of the same name from where the stone to build the walls of Ibiza Town was cut. It&rsquo;s a short sharp descent and long, sandy uphill slog back home, but if you have the energy then it&rsquo;s worth it to see the decades of mystical creatures, symbols and patterns carved into the sandstone rocks. The quarrying of stone has left a series of deep, angular pools that fill with warm seawater for bathing and a cave on the way down has been lived in for years by a man who has chosen a life outside the system. Offshore, the mythical rock of Es Vedra looms large, giving the whole area a distinctly magical atmosphere.
