MODEL & FOUNDER, OFF-SEASON

Florence Huntington-Whiteley

"I've been in Ibiza on and off for about four years now, always hoping to stay for the entire year but life has a funny way of throwing curveballs. Next season, though, I'm determined to make it happen. I'm excited about finding a permanent space, so I can truly feel grounded and free to explore more. My initial encounter with Ibiza was typical —I came here when I was 19 for a package holiday with friends, drawn by the island's reputation for partying. I wasn't really into clubbing but, back then, I often pushed myself to extremes in areas that didn't align with my true self. It wasn't until years later, after feeling burnt out from my corporate job at Nike, that I considered moving here. I had a beautiful house in London, I was in a relationship and had a good job —but I felt something was missing. I stumbled upon Ibiza again through Instagram. A friend who lived here seemed to be having a wonderful life, balancing work with the island's easy-going lifestyle. It struck a chord with me and, on a whim, my erstwhile partner and I decided to move here for a few months. Those few months became eight and, despite the challenges, the island started to feel like home. During lockdown, I stayed on the island experiencing rest and inspiration in its quiet beauty. I began setting up a business, CogDis, which focused on ethical consultancy across sustainability, spirituality and identity. It was ahead of its time and eventually I realised it wasn't my true calling. I closed it down and used the time for a spell of introspection and self- discovery, which was both terrifying and enlightening. This period led to the birth of Off-Season, my retreat business. The idea took shape after a particularly exhausting fashion week. I recognised the need for a space where people from the fashion industry and beyond could come to heal and rejuvenate. These retreats are designed to be free from rigid schedules or expectations and are a reflection of the lessons I've learned. I aim to create a space where people can genuinely connect with themselves as well as with others without the pressure to conform to any established standard. The essence of Off-Season is about intentional holidays, where you can truly come as you are. I'm also exploring new ventures in other places. This summer, I plan to reconnect with my roots in Devon, discovering it anew as an adult. I hope to bring the same sense of exploration to others, perhaps even hosting retreats there in the future. The journey so far has been incredible. I feel like for the first time, I'm doing work that comes from the heart. That’s a vulnerable place to be but it is also immensely rewarding. The feedback from those who have attended my retreats has been overwhelmingly positive and motivates me to continue. I'm excited about the future. The island has given me so much and I feel a deep sense of gratitude and a responsibility to give something in return so I hope to make a positive contribution and bring something authentic and meaningful to the community.”
