Eva Longoria: Talks jewellery, fashion and philanthropy
New ambassador for the jewellery brand APM Monaco, Eva Longoria took part in the interview to talk jewellery, fashion and philanthropy. Between two pieces of wise advice, the actress also revealed more about her upcoming film and television projects. Encounter.
LO: You are the new APM Monaco ambassador. Tell us your first memory linked to the brand.
Eva Longoria: APM Monaco was initially a great support to my association [Eva Longoria Foundation which fights to improve the social inclusion of women and children of Latino origin who suffer from economic and social inequalities, editor's note]. The brand has been part of our philanthropic family for years and we also celebrate together each edition of the Global Gift Gala, a charity gala in conjunction with the Cannes Film Festival. When APM Monaco approached me to join them as ambassador, it seemed completely natural to me given our history together, but also their values. It was obvious.
LO: Exactly, what values do you share with APM Monaco?
EL: We are classic but accessible. The idea of APM Monaco is to create wonderful jewellery pieces for men and women, which can be worn on a red carpet or on a daily basis, and which nevertheless remain affordable. There is variety, we can combine them; their approach is really interesting and I totally relate to it.
LO: If you could describe the brand to us in three words?
EL: Classic, fun and trendy!
LO: Do you have a favorite model from the collections?
EL: I love all their hoop earrings because I'm a big fan of this type of earrings... However, the new spring collection, with the light blue stones, is really a success. I wear many pieces from this collection in the campaign. Especially since this shade of crystal reminds me of my birthstone, aquamarine.
LO: Do you have a tip for successfully accessorising?
EL: Layering! I wear many jewellery pieces together, I mix metals — rose gold, silver, gold —, colours, textures. I love having fun with my jewellery.
LO: With your role as Gabrielle Solis in the series Desperate Housewives, you are now seen as a fashion icon around the world. This image is also perpetuated by the fact that you continue to attend many fashion shows even today. What relationship do you have with fashion on a daily basis?
EL: Comfort above all! (Laughs) Simplicity. I don't like to think too much, I like monochrome, matching sets, athleisure wear, I could spend my life in sneakers... I was a girl in heels before though! (Laughs) I think the most important thing is self-confidence, and it doesn't matter what clothes or the monetary value of what you carry.
LO: Beyond red carpets and fashion events, we often see you organising charity events… How is the philanthropic cause important to you?
EL: It was part of the way I was raised. With my sisters, we benefited in particular from the help of charitable associations. I knew I wanted to give back in some way and do the same for other families. As soon as I had the opportunity, with the success of Desperate Housewives, I knew and made sure that the philanthropic cause was important in my life.
LO: As you don't miss any news, you were recently announced as part of the casting for season 4 of Only Murders in the Building. Can you tell us more about your role, and what attracted you to the series?
EL: I can't reveal anything about my role, but I was already a big fan of the show. Turn alongside Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez are amazing. What I can tell you though is that we've already started working on it and it's so much fun! This season's murder is really interesting; I'm sure fans of the series will love what's in store for them.
LO: How do you manage to brilliantly reconcile your work as an actress, your role as muse for various brands — to name just a few, APM Monaco and L'Oréal Paris —, your charitable commitments, your role as a mother? and that of wife?
EL: I don't think I'm brilliant, but thanks for the compliment! (Laughs) I have a great team that helps me manage many tasks on a daily basis. But having a son has changed things so much. Everything has become simpler. He is the priority of my life, my whole world revolves around him. I'm still thinking about what's best for him. When I travel, he is always with me. He is the center of my universe. When you're no longer the center of your own universe and you have someone so important to you, it's much easier to say "No."
LO: What are your next challenges?
EL: Finishing filming Only Murders in the Building . Get feedback from the series La tierra de las mujeres, which will be released this summer on Apple TV+. And finally direct my next film. Many beautiful things are happening.
