For all fashion, film and pop culture enthusiasts, Nicola Peltz Beckham is a name to keep an eye on. She made her debut in 2006 with “Deck the Halls”, alongside the legendary Danny DeVito, and from there she took off with titles such as “The Last Airbender” (2010), two films in the “Transformers” saga and the cult series “Bates Motel”. In 2022, she crowned her dream of love by marrying Brooklyn Beckham , a union that captured the attention of the international media, with the support of her iconic mother-in-law, Victoria Beckham , who made everything even more special.

Between red carpets and a Balenciaga campaign, Nicola Peltz Beckham has established herself as one of the most beloved style icons of the moment. But today, her real focus is on an exciting film project: “Lola,” where she is both the face and the creative mind. She wrote, directed and starred in this film, which tackles complex issues related to family, violence and gender identity. As she said, “The strength of human bonds is essential to face the challenges of life,” and the film reflects this concept. She is also the co-founder of Yogi's House, a dog shelter dedicated to saving animals from euthanasia. This project expresses her deep passion for animals; “Every living thing deserves someone to love them,” she said, highlighting her commitment to this cause. With a career that is only just beginning, we are excited to see what new adventures and successes await her.

L'OFFICIEL: You started very young. What are your fondest memories?

NICOLA PELTZ BECKHAM : I have been fortunate to work with some very talented actors and directors. In my first film, “Deck the Halls,” I only had one line, but Danny DeVito walked me down the red carpet at the premiere. It was a surreal experience that I will always cherish.

LO: If you could talk to Nicola as a child, what would you tell her?

NPB : Focus on your passion and kindness. The world of cinema can be very complicated, but if you love acting, follow your dream and never let yourself be distracted.

LO: For “Lola” you not only acted, but also wrote and directed. How was that?

NPB : Challenging and rewarding. I learned so much and worked with talents like Virginia Madsen and Quincy Jones. It’s a project that will stay with me forever.

LO: What was it like working with Virginia?

NPB : Unforgettable. When I first saw her on Zoom, after reading the script, she immediately expressed her desire to play Mona, Lola's mother. I was so happy and in disbelief. I am infinitely grateful to her for trusting me as a director and for acting alongside me. I admire her so much, both as a person and for her career, and I hope to have another opportunity to work with her.

LO: Family plays a central role in this film, with intense and complex relationships. Is there something personal?

NPB : Some situations are inspired by my life, others are pure imagination. Writing allows you to mix reality and fantasy. It is also difficult for me to find a balance between work and private life, but my family is my refuge, especially my dogs.

LO: In the film, the protagonist tries to build a better life for her brother Arlo, while dealing with his addiction. What message do you want to convey?

NPB : The power of human connections. With love and support, we can get through anything. Ultimately, relationships give us the strength and motivation to overcome life’s challenges. All these amazing connections give us a boost to overcome difficulties.

LO: This story explores strong themes such as domestic violence and gender identity. What inspired you?

NPB : The protagonist's life is rich in nuances, with elements inspired by my experiences and those of the people around me, while others come from research and writing. The character of Arlo, for example, embodies the innocence of growing up and discovering oneself, free from the social pressures of gender norms. I was very inspired by someone dear to me and who I care deeply about. Our very special relationship allowed me to tell “Lola” in a truly unique way.

LO: What does family mean to you?

NPB : Everything.

LO: You have acted in many different genres, which is your favorite?

NPB : I hope I get the chance to explore more of them. As an actress, I find the most satisfaction in challenges and trying new things. When I read a script, I’m really drawn to strong female characters and I’m excited to discover the story behind them.

LO: Between cinema and fashion?

NPB : Cinema is my priority, but I love fashion as a form of storytelling. Mixing vintage and modern allows me to express my identity.

LO: Speaking of vintage, is the jacket you recently wore the same one Victoria sported in the 2000s?

NPB: It's funny how everyone thought it was actually hers, I don't even think she still owns it. I remember seeing it in a picture years ago and telling my mom - who is my unofficial stylist - how much I loved it, and she ended up finding it online and giving it to me as a surprise gift.

LO: Is there a red carpet that you remember in particular?

NPB : The Met Gala 2023, when I wore the white Valentino dress. Collaborating with Pierpaolo Piccioli was a privilege. He involved me in the creative process, making everything even more special. He is truly a genius.

LO: Future projects in cinema?

NPB : I have an exciting project in the works, with a director and actors I admire. I can't reveal more, but I hope to soon!

LO: Let's talk about Yogi's House…

NPB : I started this shelter with my friend and colleague Emma Kenney, and through our love and passion for animals, we are dedicated to saving as many dogs from euthanasia as possible. It is sad to know how many innocent puppies lose the opportunity to have a family due to overcrowding in shelters or high medical bills. Every living thing deserves someone who truly loves them. The most rewarding part of running Yogi's House is seeing these dogs find their forever homes and the joy they bring into the lives of the people who adopt them.

LO: What is your dream?

NPB :   I hope to expand this project by creating a larger shelter where I can take in even more animals and give them the care and affection they need. Buy a large plot of land and give them a second chance.
