Is Pierre Traversier Ibiza's hippest hotelier?

Boats, boutiques and a buzzing bazaar -  it's all in a day's work for the charismatic founder of Los Enamorados.

He’s the ex-basketball player from Martinique whose design-driven hotel hangout, Los Enamorados, put sleepy Portinatx firmly on the gypset map when it opened a few short years ago. Along with his fashion editor wife, Roze de Witte, Traversier has created a home-from-home for the type of traveller who hits Ibiza on a trail linking Paris, Tulum and Marrakech. Los Enamorados - 'the lovers' - emerged from an unlovely sixties boarding house to become the jewel in Ibiza's design crown. Perched improbably atop a clutch of blue-painted fisherman's huts, Traversier calls his creation a 'bazaar hotel'. Indeed, everything in the space, from the zellige tiles to the Ligne Roset Togo sofa to the woven fisherman's lamps is for sale. While Traversier is keen to point out that the vivid and playful interiors are principally his wife's work, it's clear that guest relations are his forte. With his outsized sunglasses, psychedelic sneakers and jangling jewellery, Traversier's signature style is creative and expressive. It's this larger-than-life appeal that makes him the perfect host. 'I want to give people an experience. I want to get to know my guests for real. How do I do that? I invite them to dinner, or I take them out on my boat. My philosophy is about sharing what I have and creating a great vibe. It's simple and it feels good.'
