Influencer Meredith Duxbury Gets All Dolled Up For Tory Burch
The model and beauty influencer spoke to L'OFFICIEL ahead of her evening at Tory Burch's 20th anniversary show.
If you've been on BeautyTok at all in the last year, you've probably seen Meredith Duxbury. The beauty influencer-turned-model went viral for her makeup routine that uses 10 pumps of foundation. Yes, the Internet found it shocking. And yes, she looked flawless. But these days, Duxbury is pivoting full speed ahead into the fashion world. Last season, she walked for Christian Cowan and GCDS—sporting a spicy new hairdo that's becoming something of a signature for her. In the interim, she's become a guest list regular for events thrown by Omega, Armani Beauty, and Cartier to name a few. When she's not dressing up for red-carpet appearances, she's giving her social media followers a look inside her fashion-focused life and sporting less mainstream brands like Alaïa, Rabanne, or Monse. It's clear that she knows and cares about fashion, hence the purposeful avoidance of the all-too-common influencer route of schilling energy drinks and fast fashion brands. Instead, she's positioned herself at the crossroads of virality and luxury.
As Duxbury embarks on yet another New York Fashion Week, she spoke with L'OFFICIEL about some of her NYFW insider tips while getting ready for Tory Burch's Autumn/Winter 2024 show.
L'OFFICIEL: What are you looking forward to seeing at the Tory Burch show?
Meredith Duxbury: Having attended last season’s runway show in September, I noticed that Tory really experimented with different textures and fabrics so I’m excited to see what she does this season in terms of detailing! From what I’ve seen, Tory loves reclaiming old things and making them new, so I feel like there will be a bit of nostalgia in this new collection!
L'O: How does Tory Burch fit into your personal style?
MD: Tory always puts a lot of thought into her shoe designs, which I appreciate considering my love for shoes! I also love a strong silhouette moment and Tory is definitely known for her reconstruction of designs with an emphasis on the silhouette.
L'O: Who’s the most interesting person you’ve met during fashion week?
MD: Pat McGrath! She is such an icon in the fashion and beauty industries and plays such a huge role behind so many of the runway shows. Her creativity and love for art is incomparable; she is such an inspiration to me and many others.
L'O: What’s the coolest fashion week party you’ve ever attended?
MD: It’s so hard to choose just one! Honestly, I think the best nights spent are the early nights in, PJs and face mask on, cuddled in bed at home with my pups. It’s so important to prioritize rest and self-care in between these busy days with so many shows and events!
L'O: Do you have any go-to spots in NYC?
MD: My favorite restaurant currently is Sartiano’s. It’s right here in SoHo and is so chic with the best Italian food. I also love Harbs on West Broadway for a quick, casual snack in between shows! Such a cute coffee shop/bakery.
L'O: What’s a beauty product in your bag that you can’t live without?
MD: A lip treatment! Even if I have nothing on my skin, a nice glossy lip will make me look more awake and glowy.
L'O: Is there a fashion trend you regret trying?
MD: To be honest, I don’t regret any fashion trends! One of the reasons why I love fashion so much is that it allows me to take risks and lean into new things I maybe would never think to try.
L'O: What are your fashion week essentials?
MD: A good skincare routine, especially since lately I’ve been leaning more into a clean, fresh face with no makeup! Also, a good pair of shoes that will last you through the day is a must!
L'O: If your phone died in the middle of fashion week, what would you do?
MD: I always bring a portable charger with me everywhere I go, so hopefully I would never run into this situation!
