The Son Vell Hotel, a jewel in Menorca
A real corner of Eden preserved in the heart of the Balearic Islands, Menorca has recently boasted a new address which could turn out to be the most beautiful hotel on the island. In this announced spring, here is Vestige Son Vell, a miraculously restored palace.
A stone's throw from the chic historic town of Ciutadella, the Vestige Son Vell is an 18th century palace restored with the ultimate in taste. In this period manor hides a boutique hotel with rare charm where the contemporary has found its place. Signed furniture, beautifully installed artwork. It took three years of work for Vestige Son Vell to blossom in all its magnificence. A renovation for which historians, craftsmen and designers worked in symbiosis, using the original materials, lime and clay, wood and sandstone .
Venetian-style architecture adorns the main house, the barns and the old agricultural buildings. The gardens of white roses, lavender and aromatic herbs surround an oval swimming pool and the flamboyant trees climb the colonnades while the citrus, lemon and orange trees, olive trees and prickly pear trees, flee over the 180 hectares of the property C' You cross these lands on horseback or by bike, following the Cami de Cavalls, an ancestral path running along the island with its turquoise waters, towards wild beaches. Unless you decide to stay at the manor house, a unique limestone house with 34 rooms and suites whose terraces and private gardens overlook the exceptional Menorcan countryside, to savor the passage of time as much as the local Spanish cuisine and of the season. The residence, an ancient property once belonging to one of the greatest families on the island, has now risen magnificently from its ashes. At nightfall, only the stars, remarkable here, compete with the silhouette of lit candles of Son Vell, a new Menorcan jewel.
