2023 men's hairstyle trends

At the turn of the year, the master of men's haircuts Laura Viz presented the collection of men's haircuts "20:22". In this collection, the craftswoman wanted to show and emphasize the most relevant trends in men's haircuts and details that will be relevant in 2023.

For Laura Viz from Vilnius, who won the title of Lithuanian "Hairdresser of the Year" a few years ago, last year was as intense as ever, with a lot of work and, unfortunately, little personal life, but full of innovations and ideas for this new year.

The famous craftswoman agreed to share her insights on what will be relevant and fashionable this year when it comes to men's trends. "I would say that the most prominent trend in men's haircuts in 2023 is longer hair, which can be styled in a variety of ways. This is related to the fact that Lithuanian men are finally starting to use more and more products for hair styling, learn what drying hair with a dryer is, and discover ways to use different brushes. It is a very gratifying fact that attention to oneself is increasing and there is an awareness that with effort one can greatly diversify one's everyday image", L. Viz is convinced.
The main haircut, according to the master, which is definitely on the top of the beauty world charts this year, is the "Mullet" style: when the sides and top of the head are left shorter, and the hair is significantly longer at the back. It is often associated with a very popular men's hairstyle in Lithuania in the 1980s and 1990s (it is true that both Sabonis and Marčiulionis cut their hair this way).

As Laura said, it is already the case that this era has a great influence not only in clothes, but also in hairstyles. It is true that many global trends do not catch on in Lithuania, but Laura is happy to be happy that the "Mullet" haircut has taken hold very quickly in our country. This can be seen among young people who did not live in Soviet times, and it does not seem like they are living again. Anyway, everything has already been tested, fashion goes round and round, only certain details change.

As the hairstylist told, the "blüdel" type haircut still remains popular. Many people shy away from it, but according to L. Viz, you really shouldn't be afraid of it, because it's a universal haircut that can be styled into a variety of looks using different products. Starting with neatly falling hair with bangs, ending with curls or even classically modeled

The already classic haircuts known as "Fade" style haircuts, where the sides are shortened with a clipper and the top of the head is styled depending on the desired look, are not going anywhere. Buzz cut is also coming back into fashion. These are especially short haircuts where the stylist can remember the longer clipper combs and simply clip the entire top of the head to achieve this cut.

As for the influence of the 1980s and 1990s in men's images, we can notice that little by little, big beards are being replaced by jowls. There is no need to imagine that they are simply simple, as they were in the past. Today's fashionable cheekbones require much more effort to create, various cutting techniques are used to adapt them to today's fashion. They become stylized, like an extension of the haircut.

L. Viz noticed that chemical perming of men's hair is becoming more and more popular. This is almost the most long-forgotten procedure, which should have a strong revival this year. Curly or wavy men's hair is back in fashion. "And this is a very happy trend, because we can see that men are starting to accept the structure of their hair, learn to take care of it and start to love it. By emphasizing the natural beauty of one's hair, a person becomes unique and has an individual image," says the hair stylist from Vilnius.

In general, 2023 will see a lot of mass and volume when it comes to hair. Length and details will be relevant in men's haircuts this year. Details will emphasize not only certain accents of the haircut, but also facial features or specific parts of the face: eyes, eyebrows, cheekbones.
L. Viz spoke not only about fashionable trends, but advised to pay attention to the fact that as fashion changes, so does hair care. Nowadays, shampoo alone is no longer enough for a man. It is necessary to take care of the hair so that it is not only clean, but also has a healthy appearance. "To get this effect, you should first use a mask or at least a conditioner or balm. Often, even men's hair is dry, so I would recommend using hair oil, especially for those with longer hair and less frequent haircuts. Another important thing is the means of formation. No matter how sometimes you are still lazy to use them, you have to remember that with their help it is always much easier to get the desired image, to give smoothness and order to the hair", observed Laura. According to the interviewer, styling tools help to control unruly hair or emphasize a haircut. Today, an endless variety of products is offered: powder, clay, gel, cream, pomade, varnish, etc. Which product would be the most suitable for a man, his hairdresser can always best advise. Each different hairstyle requires a different product.

"I always advise my clients to purchase a hair nourishing product and a styling product suitable for haircuts in addition to the shampoo. For men with longer hair, I recommend getting hair dryers and learning how to get the right direction, smoothness or volume with them. All this helps not only to get your hair done faster, but also to create a neat individual image that you like," said L. Viz.

Men's master L. Viz, who won the title of "Hairdresser of the Year 2021", never regretted that only men would be her clients. From the very first days, when he started learning the barber trade, he knew that he would specialize only in men's haircuts. It has already happened that a woman started her career as a hairdresser at a fairly mature age, having previously had a lot of different work experience. Everything in her life was arranged in such a way that no matter how many jobs a woman worked, she was always surrounded by only a male team. "That male energy that surrounded me from the beginning of my working career, and determined the direction of the hairdresser's specialization," Laura smiles.
