Bottega Veneta returns to support Biennale Danza 2023 reiterating its particular attention to the performing arts. And this time the creative director Matthieu Blazy, in collaboration with the Biennale College Danza, has designed the clothes for the performance 'When I Am Facing U' by the choreographer originally from Jiangxi (southeast China) Xie Xin which will be staged at the Teatro Piccolo Arsenale on 28 and 29 July at 16:00. In addition to being internationally recognized as one of the most influential contemporary choreographers, Xin is known for her compelling choreographic structures and ability to express complex emotions and concepts through movement.

The work that she will bring to the Biennale Danza is a work on stasis in emotional confusion, trying to fix the sensation in the body that one sometimes feels when one stops for a moment in silence because, as she says: «There is an indefinable sensation in silence, something of which the body has full memory . I face you, I face myself, I face the problems, I face this moment. We all have moments when the heart is filled with ripples and the mind is crowded with words. Time and memory wet my cheeks. I stand still and get pulled by something, unable to take a step, much less say a word. Of all this the body has knowledge, yet there are no words that can express it. It is so precious that I want to capture this moment in my memory…». For the choreographer, every gesture conceals emotions that can be transferred to the observers and the creative process is synonymous with participation.

On the occasion of the Biennale Danza in Venice, Xie Xin will be among the teachers of the masterclasses open to the public scheduled throughout the Festival.
