5 Celebrity Homes to Take Inspiration From
From Lily Allen and David Harbour's thematic interiors to Bryce Dallas Howard's retro-inspired living room, here are five homes to satisfy your love of interior design
Looking to revamp your space? We look to the homes of stars Lily Allen, David Harbour, Ashley Tisdale, Bryce Dallas Howard, Zooey Deschanel, Jonathan Scott and Paris Hilton to give you some inspiration on how to give your interiors an upgrade this July.
Lily Allen and David Harbour
When we consider dream homes, Lily Allen and David Harbour's funky Brooklyn townhouse comes to mind. After all, it's the reason why the couple's feature on Architectural Digest went viral earlier this February. With help from AD100 designer Billy Cotton and MADE architect Ben Bischoff, every room in the Harbours' home incorporates a series of thematic designs, including floral wallpapers, printed, velvet furniture, art deco pieces, large potiche vases, crystal chandeliers, vintage mirrors, and more. To recreate their space in your own humble abode, look for eccentric and unique pieces when furniture shopping. We recommending popping into vintage stores when searching for such pieces.
Ashley Tisdale
Ex-Disney star Ashley Tisdale has made a name for herself in not just the beauty scene, but interior design as well. Tisdale is the founder of her own interior design business – Frenshe Interiors; she also had a big hand in the foundation and execution of her own home in Los Angeles. Her house brings a more minimalistic feel to it, with built-in bookshelves, muted paintings, and neutral-coloured furniture (most from Hommés Studio) adorning her shared personal space. The star also has a luxe Louis Vuitton trunk situated at the foot of her king-sized bed. To get the look, visit stores that specialise in neutral and minimalist furnishings.
Bryce Dallas Howard
Bryce Dallas Howard was mainly inspired by Mia Farrow when it came to the design of her space, a house full of stories, treasures, and mementoes of a life well-lived. Together with family friend Claire Thomas, the actress and her husband, Seth Gabel, set out to recreate Farrow's space in their four-bedroom, two-story home in Los Angeles. Their home, a homage to old Hollywood and the couple's shared love for cinema, now plays a lot with colour, boasting a mostly-pink interior with kitchen cabinets and a U-shaped Joybird sofa in similar shades. Green also played a part in the couple's home, prominent in their mint-toned kitchen and mural-like wallpapers. To recreate the look in your own space, venture into vintage furniture shops for some treasures.
Zooey Deschanel and Jonathan Scott
It's wallpaper galore at Zooey Deschanel and Jonathan Scott's new home together. Titled the Park House, renovations took two years to complete. One main observation of the couple's shared space is that it is constantly flooded with natural light, thanks to the large windows and glass-panelled doors installed in the home. Using Scott's construction contractor background, the pair incorporated Portuguese tiles and Moroccan fabrics into their interiors, alongside fun wallpapers, patterned rugs, wooden carvings, contrasting dark shutters, and a curved staircase with iron railings. To get the look, pay attention to the couple's individual social media pages, where they go into detail about what's in their home.
Paris Hilton
It's no secret that Paris Hilton has one of the most sought-after celebrity homes in Los Angeles. Located in Beverly Park, the star's Tuscan-style abode comes in the form of a mansion, fitted with seven bedrooms, 11.5 bathrooms, and a large outdoor pool area. Hilton is also known for taking outfit photos for her Instagram account in her foyer, with arched doorways, a curved staircase, columns, stone floors, and a giant pink circular rug printed with one of her most popular catchphrases: "Sliving".
Hilton is partial to textured flooring, decorating her floors with rugs and carpets to add a more homely feel to her space. If you're planning to do the same, and also have pets running around your space, we recommend getting a powerful portable vacuum to ensure the space is well-maintained and clean. Our new go-to? The Dyson V12s Detect Slim that not only sucks up pet fur and debris but also mops the floor with its microfibre wet roller head. A trusty cleaning tool for any abode.
