Elisa López: From the inside
Create spaces that generate emotions and experiences. That is the objective of the interior designer Elisa López, whose source of inspiration is to capture the essence and inner core of the client to identify what type of environment they need.
Every day he is observing and composing spaces, wherever he is. "It's something inevitable," he says between laughs. Elisa López, an interior designer, has always felt attracted to the aesthetic. He worked for ten years in the world of visual merchandising , a stage that was key to discovering his true passion: interior design.
After her two children were born, she was encouraged to found Conceptodeco, her design and interior design studio. More than 12 years have passed since then and the company continues to grow. "For the world of interior design, the pandemic was a boom," he recalls. The period of confinement was the perfect storm for people to realize that their spaces needed a change. Today, in addition to houses, the interior designer works for prominent restaurants, real estate agencies, and vineyards.
Conceptodeco's DNA is its ability to serve the customer. Instead of giving priority to trends, the greatest source of inspiration is the tastes and personality of the person who will inhabit that environment. For her, projects are only successful when people feel happy and identify with their environment. The interior designer is characterized by her talent to quickly capture the essence of her clients. "It's something intuitive, experience has taught me that," he says. Once the style is clear, he dedicates himself to putting together a composition that manages to satisfy those preferences, but that at the same time is aesthetic and harmonious. The key is to remember that these spaces are not only a way of making art, but they are also places where people will live.
L'OFFICIEL: What is interior design for you?
ELISA LÓPEZ: It is what transmits emotions and experiences so that you live the environments of your house. It's really quality of life. Many times it is understood as decoration, but they are not the same at all. The interior designer analyzes everything that is the interior space, the materials, the floors, the walls, the lighting and the colors. Then, that is complemented by the decoration, the object itself, the make-up inside the house.
L'O: How would you define your professional label?
EL: I like minimalist and simple designs. I love the phrase “less is more”. As an interior designer I like to project spaces of relaxation, tranquility and calm. I use natural wood, linen, ceramics. In that sense, I love the trend of warm minimalism, where you can use various elements of light colors, but the textures form a warmth.
L'O: What is your greatest reference in the area?
EL: I love Athena Calderone and Kelly Wearstler. But what inspires me the most are the great artists of the Bauhaus, the German trend. They created products focused on the functional, rather than the aesthetic, which are still valid to this day. We are talking about products from 1920 that are still being used in 2023. They inspire me a lot.
L'O: What do you think of the level of interior design in Chile?
EL: There are great interior designers, we are well positioned worldwide. The Chilean Association of Design and Interior Design (AdDI) has greatly promoted this discipline in hotels, offices and homes. Today the role of the interior designer is super relevant in Chile. Post-pandemic we realized that environments are of great importance in our lives and that everyone has the right to demand a good space.
