For its 20th anniversary, the Tea lamp by Kartell goes green

This year, Kartell is celebrating twenty years of light with Tea, a sculpture lamp designed by Ferruccio Laviani in a version made from recycled material.

In 2022, light as a bubble, the FL/Y suspension marked the new beginning of Kartell's Lighting division thanks to Ferruccio Laviani. This important milestone in the brand's history has given life to a collection of ironic, contemporary and extremely versatile lighting fixtures. While FL/Y is back this year in a version made from recycled material with new colors - dark brown, burgyndy, petrol blue, olive green and amber - another novelty is appearing among the lights: the Tea lamp.

With this new object, Ferruccio Laviani continues his research on the structures that can be produced in plastic material and highlights molding technology applied to lighting, 20 years after the success of Take. "Tea is an object closer to a small table sculpture than a conventional lamp, I hope that its vision will bring pleasure to whoever chooses it as a table company", explains the designer.

Made  of recycled thermoplastic technopolymer, Tea is an abstract sign, an object with an almost artisanal character that seems to represent two hands enclosing the light in their palms to let it espace through the irregular textures that define it in a game of chiaroscuro, like shadows cast on the wall. Its finish, with an irregular and porous touch, particualrly innovative, is extremely natural. Similar to terracotta and biscuit, it is available in a palette of basic colors to understand that even manufacturing from recycled materials can give life to a poetic objects of high quality.
