The spirit of the city of Paris and the style of courtiers are in the "Dior" collection

In each of her collections, Dior creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri leaves secret messages that connect today with the deep history of the fashion house. In this 2023 in the spring and summer collection, the designer turned to Paris, the city that became Christian Dior's fashion sanctuary. The streets and buildings of Paris lying on the map became the new fabric pattern of Dior. Classic raincoats, corset dresses, windbreakers and scarves were dotted with map prints discovered in the Dior archives.

Another dominant pattern in the collection is the colorful and three-dimensional monochrome flowers that bloomed on the fabrics like a Tuileries garden. This garden was once established at the request of Catherine de Medici, an Italian woman who came to the French court in 1533. Queen Catherine de Medici of France impressed designer Maria Grazia Chiuri not only with her political education, but also with the fashion innovations she brought to Paris, from corsets to Buran lace. Therefore, the style of the nobles of the manor and the Renaissance can be clearly felt in the collection: the models are compressed with rigid decorated corsets, the dresses and skirts are constructed like wide crinolines, the sleeves are adapted to the shirts, and there is a lot of fragile lace.

In this collection, fashion is presented as an urban concept - a kind of clothing showcase, shaped by the era, and the city here becomes the background of the imagination. Spreading the pages of history, MG Chiuri connects around Montaigne Street, where in 1946 the Dior boutique was located, drawing a map with the Tuileries Gardens, beloved by Parisians. With this map, she paints her city as an expression of our era's cultural heritage, and celebrates the power of the women who roam the city streets today. After all, women know how to explore magical territories, they have a unique connection with nature and its life force.
