Hermès punk-chic fall/winter
The Hermès fall-winter 2023-24 collection mixes formal traits with more contemporary ones, creating a punk-chic mélange.
The creative director of Hermès , Veronique Nichanian , for 35 years at the helm of the Maison synonymous with luxury and elegance, never ceases to amaze: thanks to the use of precious materials such as silk, serge, cashmere, leather - often proposed on the same garment -, and cuts that look very much at the new concept of masculinity, he manages to build an elegant autumn-winter 2023-24 collection but with a sexy soul. In short, the Hermès dandy punk has arrived in town.
Lots of leather used by Nichanian for the Hermès fall-winter 2023-24 collection : black calfskin for the wide-leg trousers; the jackets, sweatshirts and half-zip shirts are always in calfskin; deerskin for a blouson and lamb shearling for a black cardigan. And again, a trench coat and jackets with hook closures typical of firefighter uniforms were made of leather. In keeping with the inspiration from the world of uniforms, some sailor cut jackets featured leather patches, a tribute by the Hermès designer "To all those who like to repair their garments when they become agée".
The knitwear and many of the garments featured in the show featured woven or applied geometric patterns that abstracted from the typical designs found on Hermès scarves, emblems of the French fashion house. And if we talk about the accessories for which the brand is famous, we cannot fail to mention the bags: among all those present in the fashion show, the most beautiful were the oversized ones - created starting from the shapes of the Birkin -, available in a variety of materials including calfskin, crocodile and cowhide. Among the footwear, the boots with the double strap were certainly the most successful ones of the collection. Finally the palette: black, anthracite, taupe, grisaille, scorched earth, cream, milky white, a particular very light sage green are the colors of the Hermés punk-chic man for autumn winter 2023-24
